George's Lemaître, the proposer of the big bang was called stupid, mocked and undermined until it was proven he was right. The "Big Bang" is the name they used to make fun of him, the original being "The Primeval Atom". There are many stories like this. Just like Tesla himself was treated badly by others, and died poor.
