I had the same mentality you're describing and I came off worse for following it. If you try suicide and you can deal with it on your own, then more power to you. My message is for the people who are struggling to recognize themselves in the mirror after they try something like that. And yes, you might lose the respect of people who never cared all that much about you; that's why I recommended talking to people who do genuinely care about you, such as close friends and family. You won't lose the…

I'm only 22, so I don't know how relevant my experience is to the topic, but regardless - here's an anecdote. I tried suicide at the end of high school because a girl cheated on me. I came off the rooftop on my own and never told anyone about it, including family. I was making good progress on being more sociable and extroverted, but it all crumbled after I tried to kill myself. I've since cut it down to 7 hours per day during work days and 8 on weekends and I feel surprisingly energetic; I don't drink coffee so it must be purely down to the fact I don't oversleep anymore. I don't know the science behind this and I can't even say if it's healthy or not. I work out between 8:30 - 9:30 pm and it's scary to think I'm cheating my body out of rest after gym, but I definitely feel better sleeping 7 h…

How is OP's post a rant, exactly? He was quite helpful and articulate; I should know, because I was the asshole he's describing a few years ago. I was wasting incalculable time browsing social media and watching TV shows. I since dumped all of it, safe for a quick daily look through Reddit, and I took up playing the electric guitar, riding a motorcycle, committing to a 6-day-a-week gym program and working on a site for food supplements with two former coworkers. I don't have to pretend I'm busy …

I'm studying for the LSAT at the moment and was considering applying to Michigan Law School (Ann Arbor). You convinced me with the cheap bubble tea.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
