You're missing the point. If the government can't announce that they've arrested a person (for this crime), then anyone charged with the crime has been "disappeared". If they can't announce what the charges are (but can announce the arrest), then these are "secret charges". Both of these situations are bad for the person being arrested. They're worse than some social stigma.

Raised right, an adult child is a loyal partner to your own plans in the world (and since it means you're probably a good parent... you're a good partner in their plans as well). I've wanted to be a father for years. Well, if you get right down to it, I suppose you can say that I always did... biological imperative and all that. But 8 or 9 years ago I accepted that I did want that. It's the best thing in the world. My wife has given me two children, and they're absolutely perfect.
