This may come off strong but here goes. You failed a test man. She called you as a test to see if you would answer. Whether she was with your cousin or not makes no difference. If your cousin had called you, and didn't tell you your ex was with them then that would be the only plausible scenario for you giving her a ride home. The phone number was strategic so that you could see it and spiral. She is seeing if she still has emotional access to you and you verified that. If your ex was stranded w…

I was always told I was a good or great husband. That she was thankful for me being in her life. Sure, we had some recurring issues in our relationship but it never seemed like it was something we couldn't work through. However, the cracks started to really take shape in our marriage when she started cheating on me with her boss... I didn't know the affair was going on at the time. I was trying so hard to pull her back to me but she was emotionally invested elsewhere. Then I found out about the …

I opened a term life insurance policy. I messaged my wife that I don't take a day for granted and would gladly give my life for her or our kids. I also said God hand picked her for me and that I cherished everyday and my love for her still felt fresh after 12 years... she said I was an amazing father and husband and she was so grateful I was placed in her life.... I was also told that I was neither toxic nor abusive. All of this occurred while she was having an affair... then one week after disc…

Let me hit you with a worse scenario. Your wife has at least a 6+ month affair with her boss/coworker. Her work office is literally right next to yours. You go to work everyday where ground zero of the physical cheating took place is in view. She's remorseful for about a week then comes the accusations because she has to justify the shame and guilt. So you become the villain in the story. You get accused of awful things that hit you at your core. You're the betrayed spouse yet you are the one of…

Your story mimics mine very closely. Married nearly 11 years, together 13. Her second marriage, my first. I realized now she has dismissive avoidant attachment. Never been IN love with me apparently. She emotionally attached to someone else and I became devalued. Once the mask came down and my love faded it became very clear that this person emotionally lied to me all this time. I feel your pain. You're not alone in your rejection. It is especially hard when you feel like she chose someone else …

Marrying someone for security/stability and "pretending" is wrong on so many levels. If you aren't marrying for love then you shouldn't be marrying at all. It takes a special type of evil to fool somebody into thinking that you share mutual love.

I started reading a book titled "Putting Children First". It's a book that talks about how to help support your children during divorce. The number one consensus for kids to have a negative impact is when they are exposed to high conflict. Mine have been shielded other than a couple outbursts from my STBXW alienating me. Other than those two episodes it has been mostly civil. More than likely there is someone else in the picture. They can't bear the shame and guilt so they find ANYTHING from you…

I can second this. Put on a pedestal. Thought she was never capable of hurting me in the way she has. She's gone all the way back to our roots to say I used her for her apartment because it was closer to the school we met at. She gave me a key to that apartment. Then said I wouldn't let her break up with me. There was one particular day I had to do a urine drug screen for school and she was distant, silent treatment. I thought she was gonna break up with me but you know what happened, she didn't…

To the OP, I don't have any idea how you could do that for 3 years... I'm over 3 months into separation and it's been hard enough with the emotional and psychological abuse...

I'm nearly 3 months into cohabitation and it's been psychological torture. Hoping to be able to move out soon once the settlement is signed. I'm in the process of going through the attic and finding old anniversary cards and wedding cards that just kind of is a gut punch. The only card I found from her addressed to me literally says on the front "I love being in love with a man like you...". I'm trying to convince myself that her rewriting our history is a reflection on her character, not mine. …

Very similar story to yours. Married 10 1/2 years. Separation started 6 weeks before our 11th anniversary. She rewrote our entire history of our marriage and said she was NEVER in love with me. She also accused me of some pretty heinous things to scare me into not revealing her truth which would jeopardize her reputation and career. Before the heinous accusations she said we could be friends and one day we would look back and laugh at this. Before all the hurtful and heinous things I was special…

My 11th anniversary is next month. We will still be legally married I'm sure but not celebrating obviously. Our 13 year dating anniversary was last month and it was just another day. The more I live with this person the more I see how non-empathetic they are and it's making it easier to get over grieving the marriage. I'm just staying in the house for the kids and for papers to be filed. Trying to maintain an amicable front for the kids and minimize interactions. Hang in there.

100 days ago I could look at my current reality and say to myself, no way that is possible. This has to be some cruel joke. But here I am, in-house separation... waiting to be served. Already retained an attorney. And the first woman I ever let my guard down with and was vulnerable enough to fall in love with has utterly flipped the script on me. Probably moving out in the next 30-45 days. 50/50 custody (hopefully) of our two small children. Been in individual therapy for a couple months now whi…

Individual therapy helps with the betrayal of infedelity. You have to process your emotions and learn to sit with them and FEEL them. Don't turn to alcohol, drugs, porn, etc. If you're a man of faith grow closer to God. A marriage takes two sides to make it work but there is never an excuse for cheating in a marriage. You need to become introspective about what potential things you did that led to her making those selfish choices. This is the time to have difficult conversations if you're gonna …

My wife compartmentalized a lot our marriage. She told me during our marriage crisis that she was never "in love" with me, but that she loved me deeply. She also keeps making references as if our whole almost 11 years of marriage was bad. I understand my role in how our relationship fell apart and I own that. I didn't have the self-awareness to realize some of those things but I never did anything to intentionally hurt her. She had an affair and I had to get in therapy for some of my shortcoming…

I'm currently going through in-house separation with two small children. Divorce is imminent. I've been in therapy for two months working through some of my own issues but also through the trauma that she caused me. Once I opened up to family it made me realize how emotionally abusive my soon to be ex is. She has said so many hurtful and damaging things to me. She is behaving as a person I can't even recognize and I'm in disbelief that I loved this person so much, poured so much into them, and t…
