You have to have a pretty twisted view of female sexuality to not take into consideration that part of what makes up her sexuality is the sexual attraction she experiences. Men think they're competing on controlling a woman rather than attracting a woman. So they really think a lesbian could swoop in and snatch up all the straight girls. That's not how straight works!
