I don't know how common it is but it is a thing in relationships in general, not just romantic ones. Eg. I had become friends with someone at the end of the foreign exchange year despite knowing her in my classes the whole time. We probably could have been friends the whole time, but alas. Sometimes you just meet someone who you really get along with, but due to circumstances a relation does not develop further. Such is life.

How bad was his hookup period? I don't necessarily "regret" any of my past partners but upon reflection I (as in who I am today) would not be choosing these men. I reflected on my logic back then, I had different priorities (not just in relationships, more like in life in general), and those partners were who I wanted back then. In some sense who I am now would have preferred not to have been with those partners, but at the same time those experiences made me into who I am now - so it does becom…

See, I completely get your point, but at the same time I feel like he specifically would like it? Idk, I do get your point about the desperation. I wouldn't be getting down on one knee - I had something else in mind.

This is one of my thoughts, which is why I'm not commited to the idea.

I'm willing to wait (maybe even tell him he doesn't have to give the answer right in the moment). He did wait a few months (I'm trying to remember but idk, was it 3? 6?) for me to say "I love you" back. He actually said it twice before I said it back. I honestly, genuinely think he will like it.

Did you get him a ring or other item? If I was proposing to a woman it be pretty easy to figure out.

I'd say we're pretty non traditional when it comes to gender stuff. It's going to be 3 years of relationship in September (but we knew eachother long as friends). Honestly, I also really think that he will like it.

Hetero relationship - thoughts on woman proposing to man? I'm considering it. It would also not be coming out the left field, as we have talked about our future (stuff like kids and weddings). I have what I want to say planned but I'm kinda chicken about it.

Yeah, I completely agree that OP at 21 is too young to be making claims about what happens after 25. I'm 29 now, and it may sound silly, but I am really almost a completely different person then I was at 21. Different priorities, different friends, different hobbies. If I think about it, it's astounding how different, and also how much I changed in the last 10 years. It really is like this meme: http://uploads.neatorama.com/images/posts/616/68/68616/1389880807-0.jpg

Honestly you can even go further - for example I feel like the conversation is very shallow when people say "feminists think that XXX" (or variation) - because I don't think there really is one THE feminism. Feminisms has different waves, flavors, inclusions/exclusions. You can have two women who self-identify as 'feminists' but one can be TERF and the other be more liberal.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
