Fair. I have made it clear I am willing to work and see where it goes. I also made it clear that I am not coming back begging and bending over backwards just to make it work: we both have things to work on. She texted me today saying that couples therapy makes sense, but that we are in very different places right now. I am taking a wait and see approach. I know that divorce is very possible outcome. I also want to be able to communicate without feeling anger and resentment if we are both attendi…

She is actually giving energy that she doesn’t want to be in a relationship with anyone. She wants her own space and agenda. Unless that changes there is not much I can do.

Probably a couple months. I think at that point if we aren’t trying we probably never will.

I needed to see this. Currently separated and no clue how things will end up, but trying to focus on working on myself and hoping for the best.

High expectations examples: birthday and anniversary celebrations/gifts, showing up for work events (I have some entertaining responsibilities), compassion and sex. Unhealthy. I have mood waves highs and lows of activity and engagement. I have been sarcastic in the past, although I feel I have gotten better with this, and she doesn’t feel emotionally supported. She feels all the pressure on planning and prepping for holidays/birthdays but she won’t give up responsibility because she wants things…

Fair point. I knew we haven’t been in a good place for the last year. I just didn’t know it was that bad of a place. Starting to feel like maybe her solo counseling sessions have helped her get to a place that she can verbalize that our relationship just isn’t working for her. If I am being honest it is not working for me either, but I tend to think we can fix that with some changes. Whether that be therapy or on our own.

Fair enough. It took us a while to get to this stage. We both know we played a role in creating a lethargic atmosphere. We both have put the kids first. We both have lost a parent and have been there for each other for that. We just seem to be unable to be there for each other in ways that we need/want from each other. My wife is a good person it just doesn’t feel like my relationship needs are a priority. Honestly it feels like we both are guilty of doing things for each other to check a box, b…

Yeah. Been to counseling. It might be worth revisiting. We have done couples like 20 years ago and we both have gone individually more recently. She is going by herself right now. I hear you on the attorney stuff. We have been in a funk for months and tonight was our first real discussion about are we done. She seems like she might be. We will have to see where the conversation goes in the coming weeks.

Nope. Just processing. She wants out. I want to try to make it work. Just being realistic after our latest conversation. All new and honestly just in a funk. Just trying to get perspective
