3	Should I Do It? I was 52 when I divorced after 23 years of marriage. It was painful going through the divorce but couldn’t be happier on the other side. Yes , losing the assets hurts, but enjoying my life post divorce has been exceptional. Dating in the early 50’s was easier than I thought. 5	Alimony paid to lower wage earning husband in California On behalf of the men who were ordered to pay alimony to their ex-wife for nearly eternity because of income disparity, take it. Think that precedence has been set in most states and regardless of gender, the higher income earner is ordered to pay alimony to their ex.
