I think men are more likely to prefer a bad relationship to being single. Men project their fear of loneliness onto women honestly.

Some men marry women for what she can do for him (cook, clean, just make his life easier) and so when she can no longer do this, she is of no value to him.

There’s also a difference between women who are childfree and childless. I would imagine women who are childfree (don’t want kids and don’t have them) are happier than those that are childless (want kids but don’t have them). That linked study didn’t seem to take that into consideration.

Because in comparison to men, women would rather just be single than settle with a man they’re not 100% attracted to. I feel like men don’t understand the amount of emotional labour that women put into long term, committed relationships. It’s honestly not worth it for the majority of women. We would rather just be single. Whereas men feel like with the women they settle with, at least they get consistent sex as opposed to when they’re single.
