The free market in interpersonal relationships has clearly been a failure. It’s time to socialize personal life and go back to enforced monogamy. Our society is falling apart due to far too little children being born or living in single parent households because modern men and women can’t make up their mind what they want in life.

If they’re childless, the morally right thing for them to do was to stay and join the army instead. Leaving your country at war to pursue romance abroad is insensitive at best.

This is what happens when we allow a free market to operate in interpersonal relationships. It’s pretty clear this experiment has failed and it’s time to socialize and redistribute “love”.

Why do you think it turned out bad for her? Because she made wrong personal decisions and became an alcoholic?

Speak for yourself. I find it important that a woman earns close to what I earn (within 20%) and that she has a similar level of wealth.

Hypothetically speaking , if one would go down that road, then both men and women should be required to perform service to the state. However, I would it ought to be voluntary with the caveat that only those who complete the service get voting rights. All other rights would remain the same. \s

It’s not exactly rosy for men in the US. Men are practically forced to register with the Selective Service: “ A man who fails to register with Selective Service may be ineligible for opportunities that may be important to his future. He must register to be eligible for state-funded student financial aid in many states, most federal employment, some state employment, security clearance for contractors, job training under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (formerly known as the Workforc…

Socialism is an overloaded term. What you defined is also known as communism. I was thinking of an extreme version of market socialism that exists in northern Europe. I don’t know about Hayek, but Milton proposed a negative income tax which is subtly different from UBI and more progressive.

Why not socialist all the way? Let there be universal basic income and enforced monogamy. \s

While I agree with your 2nd statement I disagree with the first. A governmental solution for people like him would be enforced monogamy. Simple as that.

I beg your pardon. There is at least one alternative: a socialist solution through arranged marriages. Would require a bit of revolution to pull through, but hey if we can have societal/governmental intervention to solve economic inequality, why not the same for relationships inequality?

I find it funny when the same people have a diametrically opposite perspective when it comes to low income, and clamor for the nanny state to the rescue.

My impression of living in Western Europe is that people are super entitled and can’t stop talking about their rights. No wonder the continent is so heavily socialist.

Interesting line of thinking. Why don’t we tell people struggling financially that it’s their personal problem they have to deal with, instead of expecting the society to help them out?

Women don’t owe you anything. Neither do you owe them. Stop paying for first dates and go Dutch. Temper your expectations and be grateful for the experience that you’ve had. You will be a lot happier that way.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
