Let's take gender out of this for a moment... It boils down unrealistic expectations. And symptoms of underlying problems: Greed Insecurity Unwillingness to commit Lack of maturity A person is going to struggle to maintain long term relationships if they don't confront these issues and work through them. Suppose we didn't show the video, but instead obtained a transcript of the dialogue, made it gender neutral, and showed it to a panel of relationship therapists. What do you think they would say…

I cannot control that. I can only teach my kid to think long-term and to make smart choices.

...And this is why my daughter will have access to birth control in her teen years. As a single dad I will make sure she has the opportunity to attend college and meet a solid guy before having kids.

Men date down. Women date up. That is how it has always been. If you cannot improve someone else's life you probably wont be in it. If you are just a regular, average guy then you may need to look toward immigrant groups to find women who need your security and strength. Don't bother trying to please or impress women who are high earning. They will never be pleased. Find someone who values you and build something solid.

My point is that it is shitty on two fronts: (1) It is unfair to surprise you with this information. And worse to expect you to meet & pay for the kids on the first date. Unless you are bringing kids the same age or already socially know her kids or something. (2) It is inappropriate for the kids to be exposed to men the mother has not screened.

It is in the interest of the children to shield them from the boyfriend / girlfriend for a while. The children do not need to meet everyone mom or dad dates.

To be fair, sometimes “strong independent women” is a way of her signaling that you don't have to financially take care of her. Which is great. But sometimes it just means she isn't good at compromising.

Aldabruzzo, I have a theory I want to run by you: I think there two walls: -The first wall is her lack of partnership suitably (children with different fathers, lack of stability, too many sexual partners, etc). She hits this wall long before her looks give way. -The second wall is the one we all know about and discuss - the degeneration of her appearance over time. I think when women hit the first wall they disqualify themselves from serious relationships. When they hit the second wall they dis…

I am fine with this as well. I will bring over a bottle of wine, some take out, and snuggle in for a movie. Everyone deserves the occasional low-key night. But she better pick up her house a little before I get there. Also she needs to put in some effort toward her appearance. She needs to at least be clean and wearing clean clothes. If she doesn't put in the minimal effort then I am not staying and I am certainly not getting in bed with her. I'll fake a stomach ache and leave after 30 minutes. …

Also, I think she owes us for our rational and logical labor, concurrent with the amount of time we spend with her. We know how to calmly and reasonably interact with others. We make sound decisions. This is clearly something she (and many women) lacks. She owes us for our insights and our attempts to steer her away from more bad choices.

Maybe its a socio-economic thing? I am a recently single dad. I have so far encountered the opposite effect. The ladies with children seem relieved that I understand how it works when there are kids in the picture. But then again, I am interested in middle class women with jobs and reasonable expectations.

What would happen if she sought counseling, picked up a home dyed her a normal color, did light makeup, spent 100 bucks on a sundress and heels from Anne Taylor Loft? Answer - She might actually have a chance of meeting a normal guy. She needs to figure out who she is. But no guy wants a long term relationship with her. You cannot take someone looking like her to meet your family.

In the USA most strippers are usually no more attractive than regular, healthy women. If they weren't baring themselves on stage they would only be cute. Same with cocktail waitresses and barmaids. Most are just a little above average. They spend money like there is no tomorrow. They are the female version of oil-rig workers, earning and burning cash. They have an expensive car, huge wardrobe, and possibly even drug and alcohol additions. Men take them on trips and buy them gifts all the time.

Showering! That is hilarious! Did you get the feeling that dinner at Olive Garden or Longhorn Steakhouse would count as being wined and dined? Her lack of education would suggest the bar is not that high. I feel like all you need to do is take her on two dates to chain restaurants and keep the conversation all about her, and she would be sneaking you into her bedroom after the kids are asleep.

I believe it is more nuanced than that. See: https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/1474704915604563 -If you are very tall it helps. -But as long as you aren't below 5'5 it does not detract. -If you are between 5'7 and 6'3 there is no statistical difference in number of partners. -A man who is above 5'7 and in good shape is as desireable as a man who is very tall and average or overweight. This articles suggests that height is the fifth most important factor that women consider in heterosexual…

It is not you, hooter. Women think 40 is the new 30. The women now think they have until they are 40 to get serious. They think they get to play until they are 40. Around about 38 they started grasping for decent dudes. They think they can find a high value male long after their looks have faded. I just turned 40. Its interesting you should say that. I have always considered myself a beta personality. I am very agreeable, team-oriented, low-conflict, and prefer consensus-building. I question if these women even want to be in a relationship with an alpha male. I wonder if after the tingles fade they begin to view the dominant, confident man as a threat to their independence. The so-called chad can afford to throw away the relationship and replace her with another woman. This creates an asymmetric relationship. He doesn't have to compromise or invest in the relationship. He can break the rules and she has to put up with it. This gives him full control. She resents him. Howe…

People of both genders often use higher education as a sabbatical from life. I don't care either way. Hi Hooters. In my society (USA) women don't need men for safety and security. The laws afford adequate protection and they can earn good wages on their own. They don't need someone who is a good mate to be a provider and protector. They can have crazy expectations and hold out indefinitely. By contrast, I find that immigrants from developing nations have a stronger pull to find someone suitable to be a mate. They are wired to seek potential mates who will provide financial security and safety. A…

Nope. She still doesn't want a good guy. Now she wants to hook a high value male. Her tastes have matured. She wants to be pampered, dotted upon, and spoiled with expensive gifts, money, and trips. She believes she is a luxury item. She has seen the world and now she needs nice things. She isn't settling for you. She knows her worth.

Where were her parents through all of this? Did nobody tell her she was making a bad choice being with a bad boy?

Cannot be bothered with a bra or a condom.

Right! Those fake cheekbones, nose, and eyes are horrible. She is at least 15 pounds heavier in real life.

"Taking applications for a boyfriend" sounds an awful lot like "asking for dick pics."

Chivalry is the code of conduct that medieval knights used to live by. Sure babe, lets joust.

"You'll never be as important as my children." What kind of relationship is that? She is saying that you will have no control over the direction of your lives together. She is saying she isn't going to submit to you and let you lead the family. She wants the benefits of your support but isn't willing to sacrifice anything.

That is a good point. If your time is worth more than hers you should expect her to compensate you for the difference.

This is a great deal if you know how to time things. You am making margaritas starting at noon to go with your delicious taco lunch. The pool will be ready for a swim at twilight. She will be all loosened up by then. Bathing suits comes off and you have "fun." There are at least two more causal hookups here.

Refreshingly honest... She is one among an entire generation of women who are trying in vain to reframe the role of men in relationships. It wont work because it never works.

You are buying her and her son dinner so she doesn't have to spend money on babysitters or food for him. And of course since he is there she isn't going home with you.

"My kids come first" means that she is not prepared to accept a strong, confident man to the recognized head of the household, surrogate father for the children, and husband she will submit to. If a woman is not ready to allow a new man to lead, comfort, and discipline the children then she is not ready for a relationship. Parenting is hard enough in traditional families, let alone this...
