Brilliant, Pierce! I started to suspect something was amiss after a couple of paragraphs, because the comments were too ridiculous for Steubenville. I am glad you did this, because it needed to be said.

Wait, wait, wait. Do you suggest that your statistical data be used to differentiate between men and women for health insurance? Because that's where men have the statistical advantage. Hmm? Because if you're OK with that, I'm OK with men paying more for car insurance.
/r/MensRights30/08/11 09:27 PM
4

My guess is that women who want to pay less for insurance. Just as men would want to get around the equality requirement in the health insurance field where men must pay as much as women even though women, as a class, cost more.

You read enough of these stories and it really starts to get to you. But don't miss the fact that the citizens cited in the story who seemed angriest about the "rape" (aside from the feminists, of course) were men. The guy in the car and the college guys.

Excellent.
/r/MensRights12/04/11 02:10 PM

You don't understand the gendered nature of false rape claims, about how they are tacitly encouraged to enable the fight against supposed toxic masculinity's rape culture, etc. Can't really take this list seriously since you don't get it.
/r/MensRights03/04/11 04:02 AM

Wrong. That's a big omission. They are probably the one site that feminists hate the most, because they are real smart and real uncompromising. They are bastards with nasty tempers.

". . . the problem here isnt that women arent punished enough ,it's that men are over-punished." Part of our quest to demonize and control male sexuality. A penis is deemed more dangerous than a loaded gun.

You know, "Pierce," I must say, it is good that you not only post on Reddit but even join in the comments. The other major bloggers seem to think they're too big to comment here, and I, for one, appreciate it.

I retract my comment. Some good stuff here, sir. Sorry that I misjudged you. It's just that Pierce Harlan is such a spectacularly talented writer and advocate that I don't like to see him criticized. A judge needs to be careful what she says. When she acts as though she's sympathetic to a false rape accuser, she does a disservice to the men falsely accused.

Oh, sorry. I thought you said something about a hard-on. To wit: an erection. If every woman dressed conservatively, we'd have my Eskimo analogy again. To wit: see above. I could have sworn you mentioned "hard-on."
/r/MensRights18/02/11 06:19 PM
0

Just as Eskimos can see 200 different shades of white, to men who see women in burqas all day, some women are hotter than others. But I do agree with you that clothing can't give a guy a hard-on (I believe that's how you put it, wasn't it?). Unless, of course, it shows a lot of breast.
/r/MensRights18/02/11 06:06 PM

This is what Archivist just posted under the original post in response to a similar assertion: "While some people, such as those you quoted, want to equate age with attractiveness, there is no study of which I'm aware that ever evaluated the sexual attractiveness of rape victims." Ever see a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition? Playboy? Penthouse? Ever see the women Hef hangs with? What age are the women? Seriously? Not scientific enough for ya? You know, I don't mean any disrespect to you, but …

Your knee-jerk reaction is troubling. The educator who wrote that actually wrote it 50 years ago and it may come off as politically incorrect by today's hyper-sensitive standards. However, a number of respected educators today agree that the way boys and girls are taught should not be one-size fits all. Boys do squirm more. Boys do have more pent-up restlessness. Boys need to be physically engaged in learning. That's not a slam on either gender, it's something that a lot of serious people agree …

Yeah! But, look, the "power" these women are trying to achieve is really a power over men's biology. Yes, our standards of beautify vary from culture to culture, but our desire to mate with women deemed attractive is universal among men. Sounds like biology to me. It's like if men tried to control menstruation. I understand porn can be very unhealthy, just as alcohol and drugs can be, if it consumes someone's life. But that's not what these women are talking about. They are talking about banning…
/r/MensRights02/04/10 02:26 PM
11

Oops! What am I saying! In fact, they do!
/r/MensRights02/04/10 02:18 PM
23

I mean, could this attraction to female flesh be biological? Naah. The feminists tell us men are "socialized" to objectify women as a way of having power over them. Yeah, right. Tell that to the kid getting his first unintended erection at the sight of female flesh. I guess his penis was "socialized" without him knowing it. Bottom line: So, we love to look at beautiful women. Sue us.
/r/MensRights02/04/10 02:10 PM
5

Right. People don't even think about it, but that's how most people feel. And it's that kind of thinking that insists "women and children first" and men do all the heavy lifting, etc.
/r/MensRights31/03/10 10:52 PM
1

Put aside the cheating issue, the false rape claim forces men and boys to admit having relations that often they just don't want others to know about. Women are not forced to reveal these relations, but the male is. Perhaps it will cause complications in his social circle, or with his family. But, you see, something that was NOBODY'S business must be revealed in order to keep the guy from going to jail.
/r/MensRights24/08/09 03:09 PM
5

Or else they'd be in jail (only the males).
/r/MensRights19/08/09 02:14 PM
6

Right! They single out men because they can. Men don't fight back on these issues.
/r/MensRights19/08/09 01:07 PM
1

Exactly! The whole probllem is, men enjoy sex more than women from a biological stanpoint (I know that's heresy), and some women can't stand it.
/r/MensRights17/08/09 09:56 PM
-2

Well said, Pierce. I suggest you and manhater having a debate.
/r/MensRights16/08/09 07:59 PM

Yeah, f*ck the males who are falsely accused because some OTHER males rape. You go, girlfriend! Why is a manhater like you on this site?
/r/MensRights16/08/09 07:59 PM

Ugh! I see you changed the headline to placate freshtimes! You're too f*cking diplomatic, Pierce!

/r/MensRights16/08/09 02:57 AM

See my comment above.
/r/MensRights16/08/09 02:51 AM
2

I believe the reason some people are reacting so strongly to your comment is because it was perceived as niggling and petty. You read a powerful post and you make a conscious decision to comment on it, and of all the things you could have discussed you decided to take a swipe at one, frankly, minor aspect of it without bothering to comment on anything else. At the very least, your comment was peculiar, to put it charitably. And you seem overly defensive that people didn't like your comment. I ho…
/r/MensRights16/08/09 02:51 AM
2

Yeah, slanted because . . . he's a teen, and she's a woman. Right. Now tell us how you feel about false rape claims, because I suspect that's really at that heart of your comment.

Me, too.
/r/MensRights14/08/09 05:11 PM

Imagine the reaction if the genders were reversed: "You're killing people?" "No, I'm killing girls." Unbelievable. When will these people learn that all their preaching about not being treated as "full human beings" falls on deaf ears when they act as if the other gender is subhuman?
/r/MensRights08/08/09 10:17 PM
0

The point is obvious. One serious crime is treated seriously, another serious crime is not treated seriously. The reason for this is that some zealous people work very hard to have the first crime treated very seriously and to have the second crime treated not seriously at all. And no, it wouldn't work to compare false rape claims with false claims of slashing tires. Sorry.
/r/MensRights04/08/09 09:22 PM

For those who follow the issue, it is very clear: the second article is unthinkable. So why do we tolerate the first?
/r/MensRights04/08/09 06:16 PM

I think the point is good. There is no question that if there is every a draft again, women will be included (otherwise it would destroy feminism once and for all), but you can damn well bet that all of the clerical and other desk jobs will go to women.

Tou know, it really is payback time to these people -- if any even mild calamity affected predominantly women, we'd not be seeing these flippant articles. The sad thing is, it's payback -- on the backs of working stiffs who never heard the words "patriarchy" or "misogyny." Well written, Pierce.

Sickening. So two young guys might have their lives destroyed because of what some incredible 13-year-old says. This every young guy is at risk.
/r/MensRights12/05/09 02:32 PM
23

Sickening double standard. As if a five second delay in withdrawing from sex merits a first degree felony charge, much less a conviction. We have declared war on men and boys. Women who destroys men's lives, on the other hand, are to be praised and thanked.
/r/MensRights08/05/09 02:17 PM

Yes, the chivalry then and the chivlary today are, indeed, difficult to square with feminism. Somehow, chivalry, women's rights, and feminism have metamorphosed into the same thing -- advantages for women over men.

Right on, Pierce!

bad troll = bad excuses I find your remark appalling. The man did not "rape" the woman; the woman lied that the man "raped" her, and her lie hurt him badly. Do you really want to start blaming the victims? Oh, I'm sorry -- that was a stupid question. Yes, you do want to blame the victims -- so long as they are men. You never met a rape claim that was false, I would bet.
/r/MensRights15/04/09 01:40 AM

At all costs we want to nab false accusers, and if we have an illegally produced videotape that proves a rape lie, we absoltutely need to use it!

That's just one side of the testosterone prism. Funny the article doens't mention that the vast majority of inventors are male; the vast majority of supergeniunses are male; the vast majority of risk takers are male; and males have a near monopoly on rescue attempts and heroism. To fail to mention that those things are closely related and part and parcel of maleness is akin to misandry.
/r/MensRights23/03/09 01:50 PM
2

It may be "useless" to you but a hell of a lot of people don't understand common sense when they insist women don't lie about rape. The post points out that insistence led to alot of double standards that hurt innocent men.
/r/MensRights19/03/09 08:52 PM

Oh, go to hell with the victim crap, sister. Nobody here, or in the real world outside of Womyn's Studies classes, is buying your insipid, inane, and typically foul-mouthed, angry little girl blather. Your daddy obviously spoiled you. Isn't it amusing that once again, the kids "get" it while the politically correct, enlightened adults don't! The girl is fine with it, white the adults have even invented a new term, “textual harassment," which is nothing more than high tech fear-mongering, a modern-day Chicken Little fable for young women already taught to be overly wary of males. What a sick practice. What would have been the outcry if this had been done to girls? In his old age, this man was regarded as almost a quaint curiosity of a relic of a bygone era, someone not much pitied. If he had been a woman whose ovaries had been forcibly removed by a parent, she would have been regarded as an object of extreme pity and celebrated for her heroism.
/r/MensRights17/03/09 08:11 PM

Absolutely correct. When will the slavish devotees of insipid, morally bankrupt political correctness ever learn? Insisting that an entire gender rests on an altar of victimhood not only is inane and lacking in nuance, it is, in most regards, wholly incorrect.

Your comments are disgusting. "But calling a real rape victim a liar because her rapist says it was consensual is Even More Not OK." Ah, the bow wow of radical feminism, replete with the de rigueur "f" word later on, elevating the harm of female victims over the harm to male victims. Thank you for that sexism. And thanks so much for politicizing what is, after all, a crime. So any woman who cries rape must be believed when they say they were raped. Men must be disbelieved when they deny it. Now,…

OK, I'm lost. Why would Men's Rights groups pay for an attorney to sue for money damages -- when the defendant will be judgment proof? What gain is there in that? And how will the false accuser be "punished"? She can't pay in the first place so what does she care if she loses?
/r/MensRights05/03/09 03:03 AM

You are mistaking good advocacy for "haughty hostility." Tell me where I'm wrong, just I told you where you were wrong (in a very direct, forceful manner) instead of calling me names.
/r/MensRights05/03/09 02:44 AM

Where did you get that? First, the press is gagging itself now -- but only for rape accusers, the falsely accused be damned. And, no, the courtroom is wide open. Anyone sufficiently diligent could go down and find out the names of the accused and accuser. I'll tell you what is not a "good option" -- it's our present system that manifests a double standard that protects accusers while inviting the world to titillate to the humiliation of the presumed innocent by having their names splashed all ov…
/r/MensRights05/03/09 01:55 AM

The trouble is that most of the young women who make false accusations are essentially judgment proof so it is almost impossible to get an attorney to take such a case on a contingent fee basis.
/r/MensRights05/03/09 12:15 AM

The criminal prosecutions would not be anonymous. We are merely suggesting that the press not publicize the names prior to a conviction. In court the names of the accused and the accuser need to be revealed.

Understood, but I disagree that it is "latent sexism." When one thinks of latent sexism, it is generally in a context that is not beneficial to a gender. I would suggest to you that it isn't at all sexism but a form of patronizing to pander to an angry political movement.

Well. whatever that means in this context, I don't know, because these boys were not afforded the dignity owing to human beings. So if you think that means the girls were somehow treated worse than they were, then I'd say you are woefully misguided.

Perhaps the most honest thing is just to say, here are the numbers we know about, but with the real possibility of rampant underreporting it is probably fair to suspect the number could be much, much higher.

The Voodoo ads were the most offensive I have ever seen. The idea that this was somehow playful gender reveral is just sick. The vast majority of men who are sexually aroused by women are also cognizant that a woman's sexiness is but one facet of her humanity. The vast majority of men do not look upon women as dogs to be leashed for the man's sexual pleasure.
/r/MensRights03/03/09 03:26 PM
5

Is it not also true that underreporting is rampant in the prison setting -- young men know that if they complain, they will be brutalized even more? Given this fact, isn't it fair to say that the prison rape rates could be much higher?
/r/MensRights03/03/09 03:24 PM

If anyone has any stats on this, I'd appreciate it. Prison rape is, without question, a much more serious problem because of its consistent brutality.

Impossible to say. There are too many rapes -- and we acknowledge that. But the feminists refuse to acknowledge that false rape claims are a serious problem. That refusal to acknowledge reality is the real problem. I believe that if feminists acknowledged that this was a real problem, a lot more men would work to eradicate both rape and false rape claims.

Your point is good. We need to reward women who recant early with lighter sentences because recantations are often the only thing that will clear a man's good name.
/r/MensRights27/02/09 09:23 PM
2

By compact among the news outlets, the accuser is not named. Why not just extend that to the accused in these cases? The reason it is a far more serious problem in sexual assault cases is that even if the male is exonerated, there will always be a stigma that "something" must have happened. This is because, short of a woman's recantation, these claims are almost impossible to completely rule beyond the slightest doubt. Hence the need for anonymity here far more than for any other crime. The mere…
/r/MensRights27/02/09 08:39 PM

That's why the presumed innocent need to retain their anonymity until conviction. Too many are tried and convicted in the court of public opinion -- the news media -- before a single scrap of evidence is introduced in a trial against them. And then when they are exonerated because it turns out the accuser lied, who do they get their reputations back? They don't.

What is missing from too many comments in these matters is a sense of reasonableness. So if police conclude the evidence is shaky and a presumed innocent man is freed after having sex with a woman who was drinking, the feminists bellyache that she MUST have been too drunk to give her consent. Which law school did you graduate from? Are these not places of public accomodation? They can't do stuff like this. Any more than a store can bar blacks. (Or didn't you know that, either?) This is incorrect, on a multitude of levels. First, most rape claims are determined to be "unfounded" -- which means there is insufficient evidence to proceed. Even thought the vast majority of these are likely "false," only the ones that are affirmatively proven to be "false" are deemed to be false reports -- and those are a tiny fraction of the "unfounded" claims. Police and DAs have very little interest in going after false claims, and they rarely do. This is a travesty and only encourages li…

I agree. Rape is not part of a continuum of otherwise traditional masculine behavior. Are we to suggest men can't control themselves around women? That's silly. By the same token, women need to be careful to avoid falling into a rapist's clutches (date rape drugs slipped into drinks, etc.). This is not sexist advice because men also need to be careful walking in dangerous neighborhoods (men are the predominant victims of crime, not women). With that said, it is astounding that innocent men are t…

Um, no -- mainstream feminism insists that women should not have to do anything to change their behavior when it comes to rape; it's the rapists who must change. (Hard to disagree with that, in theory.) But they are also the first to insist that men (innocent men) need to be "part of the solution" to prevent rape -- as if men (innocent men) have some responsibility for it for no reason other than being born male. pn6, the ones who reported obviously didn't read it closely enough. It is merely saying that if innocent women have no responsibility, how can innocent men have a responsibility -- just because they are the same gender as the rapists? Early recantations need to be rewarded, I agree. So long as no innocent person was targeted by police as a person of interest with the prospect of arrest. (And don't forget about the 8-year-old boy who was arrested and put in handcuffs for "raping" an 11-year-old girl several months ago. False rape claims are sometimes more damaging than rape and need to be taken far more seriously than they are.)

". . . most of those boys don't label it as rape." No, it's statutory rape because the adult alone is supposed to know better. This argument IS valid with adults, though: One reason some women don't report they've been "raped" is that most women "classified as having been raped" by the paid sexual assault industry do not believe they had been raped. Recent studies show that both young females and males suffer immeasurable harm from an improper sexual relationship with an adult. In fact the boy in such a relationship has been victimized in real terms, his life has been damaged, perhaps forever. More attention needs to be paid to these studies, and the harm to the child must be the overriding factor by which we measure whether double standards in these matters are in any sense appropriate.
