Find your own way to succeed. Research the fuck out of everything. Learn as much as possible, especially in emerging fields Don’t find yourself left behind by the tides of change. Invest in the right skills, meet the right people, and you’ll find that success is like being carried by a giant current downstream. You won’t be able to stop it even if you tried. The problem isn't that none of you are manly enough, it's that you're all dull. You'd have to be pretty fucking uninteresting to want to be…

Depending on others for your own happiness is just sad. This is powerful when you discover stoicism for the first time, but banal and on many accounts wrong when you've actually taken the time to read furhter. You push its logic far enough and you end up in a position where you've fled life, experience and authentic joy (because life, experience and joy involve others), and pushed yourself into a solipsistic hole where you stay out of fear of being 'hurt' more than anything else. Also yourself i…

Nah I'm australian. And yeah, being able to look back on my life and see that i was able to transmit my values, that I was able to be one the most crucial and important realities for another human being, that I existed beyond myself and got past that narcissitic personality disorder that goes hand in and hand with adolescence these days, will definitely be a source of comfort. I'm not stupid enough to confuse paternity and simply giving a woman my sperm. Your life may be stress free, but your li…

I fucking hope you do. There's something indecent still playing that game at 60. Trying to 'get pussy' at that age evokes too much the lecherous uncle or creepy aged voyeur for me to ever want my sense of self caught up in it. Congrats you'll be both the lonely and creepy guy at the bar.

Absolute rubbish article that just reiterates the same vapid points he repeats as nauseum everywhere. Go work behind a bar, go work in a clinical setting or in an unemployment office. The lonely old man is definitely not a myth. Stop trying to justify being alone as just a way of not being emotionally dependent on others. Two completely different things. One day you'll discover that you can't just exist for yourself and that everything you told yourself was just an expression of an even more reg…

Have fun being that weird 60 year old alone at the bar. Unless you're some artistic or scientific genius who can leave works of art and knowledge behind, leaving behind a family is probably all you're capable of.

. It makes sense, homosexuality is an evolutionary glitch and hormonal imbalance and so only those who possess No it's not. You're confusing reproduction and sexuality.

Why does this read like Patrick Bateman's monologue at the start of American Psycho

They're not. This sub is too skewed by men who only date/fuck lower middle class (mostly white) American women.

Hmm, I see that as almost the opposite. Westerners' obsession with material goods, comfort, and distractions has made us fat, lazy, nihilistic, and almost incapable of withstanding discomfort (i.e. has made us terrible in every single metric you just listed This is recent historically speaking and only one side of western civilization. Do you really think men during the renaissance, the religious wars or the French Revolution were obsessed with bourgeois comfort? Do you think the West's valuatio…

Some awakened beings come back to keep living real life, they just don't suffer anymore, because they see reality for what it is. They live with a type of detachment that completely nullifies everything which gives life its intensity: decisions, limits, courage, passion, commitment, faith in higher ideals, effort.

No thanks. There's a reason bouddism was dismissed as a 'cult of nothingness' by 19th century philosophers: life is difference, conflict, striving, creation and to avoid these is to avoid life. Any spiritual goal of absolute deliverance from suffering and individuation (in the sense of being a finite self) is anti-life. It's no accident that meditators and eastern monks are corpse-like in their stillness. The very reason the West became as dominant as it is (or was) was because it said yes to li…

I just broke wit/humour into its component skills. Good luck being more creative with language and metaphore without solid models though. The quality of your observations, wit and jokes is a reflection of the quality of your mind, no collection of brainless recipes for repetitive skills or techniques will change that. You'll look like the humour equivalent of those cringe pick up artists in YouTube mouthing words/mechanically using technique, thinking that's all there is to it. There's no shortc…

Don't try if it doesn't come naturally. It presupposes a talent for métaphor, analogy and seeing connections others don't see. The only way to you could conceivably improve it is by reading good fiction and poetry that uses these.

Probably not something I'll be able to cover in one sentence. But when you project male dynamics of desire onto women (and position yourself as the object of desire), you can be sure that you're wrong (and possibly harbouring homosexual tendencies).

In these situations, you have to hold frame, convey contempt (not hate, which is different) and ridicule his attempts to escalate the conflict physically (the 'calm down', 'why are getting so worked up' 'where the fuck you think we are?' type talk). This doesn't really work if you're not quick witted and more intelligent than him. Wit and intelligence always trump force in these situations. Being shown to be dim witted and stupid hurts more than being shown to be physically weak.

nah, the maghreb 'delinquents' act in a way they would never act back in Algeria or Tunisia.

Sell out? Being a certain color doesn't mean you necessarily have to act a certain way. You can be French or British without being white last I checked.

Avoid dressing or acting like the Arab and Maghreb chavs that are the scum of European society, and most people will barely take notice that youre Arab (it's the fact that you're American that'll standout most of all). Unless you force people to acknowledge your minority identity (via dress, attitude, othering whites etc), unlike in the states race is pretty invisible. Especially if you're only half Arab. A lot of people will just think you've got Italian parents or something.

If you're a man, stop obsessing over how you look full stop. You should dress appropriately for context (professional etc), no for achieving a 'look', masculine or otherwise. Nothing is less masculin than trying to look masculin.
