Damn, I've never listened to her all of her music and didn't know that. I actually liked her. Going to unfollow her on Spotify now.

Thank you! I also wish you a happy Men's Mental Health Awareness Month and a happy Pride Month! 🙂 Same goes to all LGBTQ+ people here, of course.

I mean, women also tend to order more clothes online. They also tend to wear more beauty products, which also causes more pollution. I'd guess they're just as "guilty" or even more so than men. You can blame us for many things but it's starting to get ridiculous.

I don't hate feminism. Actually, I believe in its principles. But I do believe it's got a huge messaging problem and that many feminists let misandry slide too often. Trying to shame people into supporting an ideology obviously doesn't work.

What frustrates me is that so many people don't seem to care about the truth. They keep parroting the sentence and insult anybody who corrects them. I've seen people being accused of "showing solidarity with the perpetrators" for pointing out a simple, verifiable fact. They'll claim that the person correcting them doesn't care about the victims. It's honestly disturbing how many people don't seem to care about facts and can use shaming tactics to silence those who do. It's horrific that the grou…

They're also ok with open transphobia and racism as long as they specify that it's against men or AMAB's. I've reported comments and posts but apparently radfems play by a different set of rules.

I didn't say I'm the opposite, though, did I? I disagree with them about economics but agree with them on certain social issues (LGBTQ rights, legalizing or decriminalizing drugs, rehabilitation instead of punishment). But they do tend to be very individualistic and seem to think that free markets will solve everything. That's where I disagree with them.

I can't vote (I'm a foreigner where I live) but if I could I would still vote left. However, I would check to see if the "left" politicians actually are what I consider "left" and if they fulfil certain criteria. If they only play identity politics but support rightwing economic policies I wouldn't vote for them. Overal I still politically have more in common with (for lack of a better word) "woke" politicians than I do with conservatives or liberals (in the European sense).

Depending on the circumstances they might be right about the second part but could also be wrong about the first. I'd argue a woman among men she doesn't know would be more affraid than a man among women he doesn't know. The difference in strength between the average man and average woman is a real factor. The difference in behaviour tends to be too, but there are always exceptions. Too many feminists seem to like to pretend that there aren't.

OK, good point. But even if it were 1% they still wouldn't be able to know... My critique on that argument is that they don't apply it to women. There are fewer women who are violent (hope you agree with me there) but I'd argue that that plus our gender bias (women being these benign, almost angelic creatures who do nothing wrong) would make it even more difficult to tell which woman would hurt you. But somehow they ignore violent crime commited by women.

They nazis didn't say "some jews are bad". They said all were. The statements above aren't generalizations, though. Saying "10% of a group is bad" isn't a generalization.

If they're exceptionally dumb, yes. Men tend to be stronger than women. Some of us are also very violent. So it makes sense that they would be more careful around us. I don't see how that's controversial. It's common sense.

I actually get this. I'm careful around people I don't know too. Even women, because weapons are a thing and some women are violent. But what annoys me is when they put women on a pedestal or do the "fewer = none" thing. The blanket generalizations and the way they blame all of us for what individuals do piss me off too. It's just so lazy and simplistic. But I absolutely understand when they're careful around men. Especially strangers.

What is serfdom? What is an absolutist monarchy? What is a dictatorship? These people tend to have an incredibly shallow knowledge of history. Often they'll only know about US history and maybe some select European history that confirms their biases. They're correct that men have never been enslaved because of their sex. But they're wrong about women never having power. Look at female political leaders. Look at queens. Look at female CEO's and ultra rich women. Hell, even in the US the word of a…

Women on that sub have absolutely no idea how men think and will base their opinions on how the worst of us behave. They'll also cherry pick and sometimes misinterpret what certain toxic men say online. (Things aren't black and white after all.) TBH I feel sorry for some of them because the men around them are apparently toxic but that doesn't excuse making generalizations about all men like that. You'll also find a lot of factually wrong statements on there that the others don't correct. A quic…

It says the clubs offer drinks for much lower prices at first (increase them later), hide their menus, hosts encourage women to keep their tabs open for weeks. But also: The tabs thing seems like a question of common sense. Pay at the end of the evening, by the latest. Ask for a menu or leave. And most importantly: Never believe somebody who you're paying that they love you. That's what hosts and prostitutes do. Hell, even wait staff will flirt to get bigger tips. I'm sorty, but this is at least…

Actually I disagree with you there. The man vs bear thing was about how people sometimes don't believe women when they were raped. It was also about how women are afraid of men they don't know because they don't know who will hurt them and who won't. Most women were saying that not all men were dangerous but they couldn't know who was and who wasn't. A dangerous man would be more likely to assault them if nobody else was around. That makes sense to me. Besides, most were thinking of timid bears …

Personally it's the hypocrisy that bothers me. It's like they're saying: "This behaviour is harmful, so we'll punish you for it. Unless you're a member of a certain group and it's against another group. Then it's ok." It wouldn't bother me if making jokes like that were acceptable for everybody. That would be equality. What we have now isn't equality.

You do understand that these isolated marginalized men are hurt by the hatred they face for being part of the collective too, right? Would you say that about any other group? Maybe there's some setting on FB where you can also deactivate them so you only get wholesome, family friendly ads? IDK but it might be worth a try looking. Maybe men who do these things do them to tease you? Might be a type of "negging"? Or maybe they want to show you how manly they are by disliking things that are stereotypically feminine? That would be my guess. Personally I don't make fun of people for their taste in music and I would try to be polite about my skepticism towards astrology. Yeah true. Should have been clearer. I'm talking averages. Obviously an armed, strong or well trained woman will do more damage.

Sure, I don't disagree with you there. Just saying that in that instance they're talking about violence against women 🤷🏼‍♂️ I did say I'm against violence (except for some exceptions), right?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/11/23 04:17 PM
-15

Well, obviously men do more damage when we hit women than vice versa. Saying "stop violence in general" in response to "end violence towards women" comes off as dissmissing the fact that more women end up in hospital due to violence by men than the other way around. Obviously I'm against hitting people outside a consensual or self-defense context regardles of their gender but I do understand how saying that might sound like it's minimizing violence against women.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/11/23 02:32 PM
-18

I sort of agree with OP. But I also feel like saying "Stop violence in general" is similar to saying "all lives matter" in response to "black lives matter". It's true in a way but also misses the point.

You'll also keep hearing the argument "Men are much stronger than women, so they don't have to be afraid.". This isn't true because the man would face a lot of trouble if he physically pushed the woman away. I've been in a situation like that and was afraid to do anything since I might be accussed of assaulting her. I wouldn't be up against her, I would potentially be up against all the other men (including the bouncers) around me. People tend to side with women in situations like that. I've see…

Because there still is a social stigma to it. Besides, not everybody can do that type of work. Here a qualified person can turn down a lower paid job if they're overqualified too. In places where it is illegal, do they force people who would be qualified for the military to join? Why not? But anyway, if someone wants to do sex work they should be allowed to.

I call out things among my friends. If they say something I disagree with that isn't obviously a joke I might try to start a conversation with them. What I won't do is play Batman or take the blame for what men in another city or on another continent do. I've noticed that too. Or they'll point out that misogyny is worse, which is true but that doesn't mean it dosn't exist or that it's right. I keep hearing this from people involved in Identity Politics and it's frustrating AF. Some of the more extreme ones act like SA against men isn't a thing because it doesn't happen to us as often. lol how do these people explain domestic violence by women against men? TBH I don't know if that model is taught globally. I'm talking about just hanging out with friends. Sometimes it's more fun to just hang out with men once in a while. People will sometimes want to vent about things in their relationships or things they only want to talk about with other men. Also, you might not be able to make the same dark or off-colour jokes if women are around. So it's just ranting about relationship and personal stuff plus dark, dirty jokes. I see no problem with that. Jokes are jokes. Everybody knows it isn't meant seriousl…

Tbh, I feel safe around women physically but wouldn't want to talk about some very personal things with women around. I wouldn't want a female psychotherapist, for example. I'm sure women are just as competent as men but shame and the fear of being misunderstood are real issues. So I could also understand someone not wanting to go to a mixed gender sexual abuse support group.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/03/23 02:49 PM

In my experience it's just different when it's only guys hanging out together. You can speak more freely and do things the women wouldn't enjoy. You can enjoy films, shows and games the women don't like and most importantly you can vent freely. I don't mind hanging out in mixed groups but guy's nights are important too. Women seem to enjoy some time without guys too so I really don't see a problem.
