Half of women in British prisons suffer from anxiety and depression and a quarter report symptoms of psychosis. Nearly half of incarcerated women will have attempted suicide. Moreover, a third of female prisoners have a child under five... So, how do those numbers look for the rest of the prison population?

That only applies for "bona fide job qualifications." If a resturant advertises themselves as having attractive female waitresses, then being an attractive female is part of the job. To a customer, an author is just a name on a book cover. They could likely legally demand that male authors use a female nom de plume, but being female can't reasonably be a required attribute to write what they want written.

mutilate: verb, to injure, disfigure, or make imperfect by removing or irreparably damaging parts. It's not loaded, it's accurate. Back before awareness of FGM was brought into the western world to ban it, FGM was commonly referred to as female circumcision.
