Lots of good suggestions here. I recently had a girl hit on me but asking coming up to me with her friend at the bar I work at. She commented on my appearance and though I found it flattering I didn't really know what to say and we never really ended up sparking a conversation. As others have said, it's probably a good idea to arrange to meet up. Try and find a mutual interest you both share and go do something fun with that. Good luck!

I can relate to a lot of what you're saying. I think if you're having to think too hard about what you want to be then there is a problem. You just need to throw yourself into unfamiliar situations and see what happens. Some people will always be dicks, you can't help that.
