You are already dead. Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru i knew all my anime consumption would come in handy. but seriously, good notes. thanks for the summary/writeup.

at the very least, having a strong social circle helps no matter what when it comes to picking up girls.

you're getting a lot of hate, but I do some of this and find it pretty natural/fun. I tihnk the key thing is it's very much a YMMV depending on the girl and who you are. I like girls that I can banter with the entire time who will give me shit as well, so this light (and admittedly pretty dumb) teasing has definitely worked for me.

no idea, but there's guides on fixing it. just google it. it's not an uncommon thing

I'm so sorry for your loss. There's such a large gap between how we should treat our mentally ill, including those diagnosed with depression and at risk for suicide, and how we actually treat them. the road to recovery is long and difficult and requires a ton of resources that society just doesn't give right now. eg, things like SSRIs take weeks to go into effect and can actually increase suicide risk (by giving people more motivation). I've seen a lot of patients who are involuntarily committed…

you also have to keep in mind said support group focuses on suicide, which predominantly affects men anyway.

you don't need people who'll disregard you like that in your life

there's an okc blog that's has recent/frequent updates: https://theblog.okcupid.com/ but it's not nearly as in-depth. kind of clickbaity articles, with a smidge of data. bit of a shame

seems UK centric, and they're all subscription based. pof has a bad reputation in the states...i suggest trying okcupid first, also cuz it's free.

like...a random chick off the street? build rapport. don't creep her out/get good at reading social cues. make friends with her friends, or make them like you

distract yourself with improving yourself: find some friends, go practice and excel in a hobby, learn to live life without worrying about being single. you really shouldn't be in a relationship or trying to date without a solid foundation and you become happy with yourself, individually. pick up manson's book: models. it goes straight to the core of oneitis, and how you can work on avoiding linking your self-worth with romantic relationships.

do you have a good network of friends, both male and female? are you involved in student organizations? you really should if you're not. it's the easiest way to meet ppl, and getting to know girls in the same student org is pretty natural, or if you become friends with them you can meet those girls' friends etc. plus you'll already have a common interest, so it's even easier. cold approaches work, but if you're a total nub i really don't think that's what you should go for. not when there's so m…

it's impolite to be roundabout, at least in the US. maybe it's kind of shitty of society, but if a stranger approaches you and they don't open with what they want, it implies they have an ulterior motive (e.g., conversion, soliciting for a donation or the latest ponzi scheme)

don't think thats a good analogy either; the perspective of a student that has managed to grasp a difficult concept is sometimes infinitely more valuable than a teacher's to whom the material is routine eg - teachers who are way too damn smart to teach their relatively dumbass kids (see: research professors) but then we're kind of getting away from the original metaphor.. lol

Let's be real. even assuming chivalry is a shitty thing, this is still a net gain for the little guys
/r/MensRights09/03/16 01:46 PM

I don't think kids growing up in shitty areas that have no dads are the ones that should be leading the fight against chivalry. plus on the other hand, they get to learn manners and what a well dressed man looks like and apparently how to be polite in general. that stuff is non gender based and still helpful, esp if you're like, fucking dad less.

pretty good video. relevant here, but i think it'd be more helpful to the folks in /r/socialskills, haha. subscribed, looking forward to storytelling vid. definitely something i could work on. also, i think the hand thing is nice, if unnecessary. i wouldn't miss it if it were gone, but on the other hand i think having words just appearing on the screen is weird, or it'd come off as like a powerpoint lecture. i enjoyed the content nonetheless.
