Not to mention that if you do really well at CC you have a high chance of transferring to a good school when it is time to start your major classes.

It is always wonderful to hear a rational, well-thought-out perspective. The points you made have been one of my main motivators for a lifetime of decent diet and good exercise. Just wondering, if men were to be "compensated" for our physical shortcomings, what form would you suggest that take (social security a couple of years before women, better health insurance for genetic diseases...)?

Never turn your back to the ocean. Had that lesson pounded into my head by both parents almost from the time I could walk.

The Navy did replace the TF30 with F110 on the F14D, but by then the Tomcat was more than halfway through its service life with the USN.

Indeed it was actually surprisingly economical in terms of fuel burn per pound of thrust produced per hour, it just couldn't really cope with the sort of rapid changes in throttle and AOA expected of a fleet defense fighter. Still, it wasn't nearly as bad an idea as my lot trying to turn the Tornado into a bloody high altitude interceptor.

It is always great to see someone willing to do the research. Still kind of disgraceful how many tomcat crews were lost to those god awful TF30 engines over the years.

Sad, but from personal experience 100% true.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
