Kid? Kids are a different story. They are not adults, so yes, they would contact a guardian. But, again, if any old person just called, they don't know who you are. So, they'd be hesitant to confirm anything over the phone to a stranger. If you come to the hospital and ask about your kid, that's easy to confirm you are, in fact, a parent.

I've known many men in HR. I dunno. It's not an easy position. Sure, it may be more woman based. So is nursing and teaching. Granted, it could be woman can be more nurturing, by nature. So when dealing with conflict/resolution, hire/fire, that personal, nurturing touch can be all the difference to somebody.

I'm not sure I'd go that far. Men in HR can be just as bad. I'm not entirely sure gender has anything to do with it. And don't forget, "enforcer of rules," isn't "maker of rules." Don't shoot the messenger, someone above them is calling the shots. Generally, someone who is too cowardly to do it themselves. Some of the rules they have to enforce may not even be their beliefs. I don't think this is female entitlement. This is legitimate mental illness at play, that looks like it wasn't, or hasn't been treated appropriately or properly monitored. That's not to say she isn't dangerous, or excusing the behavior. This just isn't someone suffering from some delusional entitlement she feels as being a woman, but actually certifiably delusional. She actually believes Walt Disney told her to do this from his spaceship. I'm sorry, I just don't agree this belongs in this sub.

Why only female co-workers? I try to avoid giving my number to co-workers as a general rule. It usually gets abused one way or another. Obviously there are a few exceptions. The male ones are just as bad.

I don't know Australia laws, but in America that line can be blurry with HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Protection Act), and I'm sure Aussie has something similar. You run into the problem where you can't devulge private health information unless you give written consent. If you are in a hospital, for example, and you tell your mother, and your mother calls the ER nurse, that nurse cannot even confirm you are a patient until some form of consent is given, in writing.
