Sounds way too familiar, and I'm also finding it hard to explain these feelings of guilt, shame, or general confusion. BUT it does get better. Very slowly, but it does get better. The only comfort I end up finding everytime, is thinking back and realising that the situation was unsalvageable, staying only would have lengthened the agony and make it worse, and seeing that this way is overall better, even if harder sometimes. But let's keep looking ahead to a brighter future.

Thanks for this, it's exactly what I needed right now, today, as I'm feeling especially low without apparent reason - freight train out of nowhere type thing. I'm through 1 and 2, skipped 3 (but starts to feel more and more necessary, reddit does it for now), and I'm in the middle of 4. Your experience, as it feels very familiar, gives me hope that I'm headed the right way.

This is so accurate to my situation and feelings that I might have written it myself (except the affair - the relationship died a slow and agonizing, but mostly natural death). And I'm only at 3 months so these feelings are more intense, and it's bittersweet reading that it gets better, but only very slowly.

Yeah, the "parking lot for ten minutes" really hits close to home, I often and unconsciously find myself doing that, just not starting the car and going about my business, but staring out the window blankly. Also, the "math in my head" at any hour of the day when I have some downtime.
