Is he supportive of you quitting your job once married or is he focused on you finishing your degree so that you can get a good job later? These statements are incongruous. You two need to get on the same page about your future plans and goals together. And of course you are stressed out. You are objectively doing too much. I think you are in survival mode rn, and the more feminine things will be natural once you can slow down.

I didn’t read where she blamed society. I understood it simply as “this is unfair,” which it is, even if it’s biology/God’s fault.

She’s a Jehovah’s Witness, a religion that doesn’t allow surrogacy.

I went through with grad school in you exact shoes. Got the debt too. I’m married and pregnant. Life is good.

Are you really a housewife if you pay half the bills using money from your paid job?

You’re giving a wife experience to a 36 year old unemployed man who lives off his parents and you don’t even have the title. He’s not even doing the bare minimum of taking care of things while you work. This man very well may take advantage of you for as long as you let him. He might even get worse. Escalate the situation. He’ll either step up to the plate or let you decide if being the breadwinner AND taking primary responsibility for the house and dog is worth it.

So much this. College will be kinder to this girl. People who can joke about Adonis as a teen don’t peak in high school. It will be much easier to meet a good match once she’s in college.

Shit she had me at 6’4” Adonis. She’s funny, smart, and well-read. Once she gets over the hump of meeting people, she’ll be all set.

I’ve been in similar situations and called ahead to manage expectations. I was always really glad that I did — it took the pressure off so that we could enjoy ourselves and prevented him from being too disappointed. It also sets a precedent of good communication. What I did was call and say “I’m really excited to spend time with you and to see your place, and I don’t know what your expectations are, but I just wanted to let you know that I don’t think I’m ready to get too physical yet. Is that o…

Just because she is keeping something private doesn’t mean anything it has anything to do with you. Maybe her friend is going through a hard time and she is protecting her friend’s confidences by keeping it from you. Maybe she felt like it was time for a change and will happily share it with you.

Women age like milk, men age like wine. Also, men not caring what kind of money women make. I’m a professional, single lady in her late twenties. My single professional male peers are mostly dating women like me, not 22 year old virgins. Some of the married ones have drunkenly bragged to me about landing a wife who brings home good money.

Here is the report from the University of Virginia’s National Marriage Project. Their theory is that people who cohabitate are more likely to “slide” into marriage than intentionally decide to marry compared to those who don’t cohabitate, and that it’s the “sliding” that leads to less happiness and more divorce.

You can’t make a man commit or respect you. It scarcely matters whether you hook up with him early or not — he either wants long term or doesn’t. You can keep trying, but his inconsistency is telling you that he isn’t interested in long term. The advantage of you waiting is that men who just want to hook up will generally eff off instead of waiting.

Absolutely. Idc about the drinking habits of a man for a casual relationship. Or if he’s financially responsible. Or if he’s lazy. Or .... I’m way more picky about long-term partners because I know those habits will eventually become my problem.

I prefer a man who is a bit overweight and works out to a skinny one who doesn’t.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
