I think s1500 phrased himself poorly so I don't blame you for trying to refute him, but I don't think he was intending to imply that there's no such thing as a person that women can find legitimately creepy, just that the label is often used unfairly. He probably should have said "is often a convenient way of dismissing" instead of phrasing it like some absolute fact that happens 100% of the time.

All you need to fight for men's rights is... to fight for men's rights. If your political bullshit is what motivates you, that's great, but it's not going to motivate everyone and for you to suggest that anyone who doesn't share your politics is incapable of fighting for men's rights is just ignorant.

I think you mean MRA. MRM stands for Men's Rights Movement, so it's impossible to "be an MRM". You really have no business lecturing others on who should be advocating for men's interests. Alienating people who share the interest in improving things for men because they don't subscribe to your exact political philosophy is pretty idiotic.

This didn't even have anything to do with politics. It was a pointless cheap shot that added nothing to the discussion. There are loads of liberals who regularly post here and turning every issue into a right/left pissing match isn't going to accomplish anything.

I identify moreso with the conservative label, but just because these people are more likely to be left-leaning doesn't make it liberal logic. Plenty of folks describe themselves as liberal and don't like this logic either. Can we just keep politics out of this sub unless it's actually relevant to an issue being discussed? There are plenty of areas where it will be relevant, but pointless potshots do nothing for anyone.

True, but this would accomplish less rape and these people would then have less shit to protest and whine about. Some people don't want solutions, they just want to whine about the problem.

God forbid someone speak of the problems facing boys today, better "protest" it with anti-rape signs so that everyone thinks they're in there promoting rape or something... What the hell is wrong with these people? Also, I wish I'd known this was happening or I would have gone (assuming it wasn't for students only).

That's awesome. I'm sorry that you had to endure that but I'm glad you were able to turn it into something positive. Good job.

What? You wouldn't want to get blown up by a landmine? You are weird my friend. He just hasn't checked his privilege yet. Once he does he'll see how lucky he is to be standing in that minefield...

I have to agree with this. If the woman is doing most of the shopping, it makes sense that she would be spending more money, but those expenses are being used on items that both will use. That said, I would not be surprised to learn that women still spend more than men on discretionary items for themselves but I don't think this chart actually demonstrates that.

She's not going to read it. I've encountered this legbeard before when she was pulling claims out of her ass about the contents of a study she linked to. I checked her link and it actually refuted what she was saying. It was obvious she was either lying or hadn't actually read her own link and when I pointed this out and asked her to cite the part that she claimed confirmed her position, she flat-out refused and devolved into screaming, name-calling, tantrum throwing child who would only insist …

A representative from the SFU Women's Centre did not return a call asking for comment by the NewsLeader's deadline. I'm guessing they learned their lesson after the internet ripped them a new one for making this moronic video in opposition to a men's centre.

Within their legal rights, yes, but it's still unacceptable behavior in a school. Nobody is suggest she be charged with a crime here.

Ask your feminist friend what women are doing about it because women are actually more likely to be homophobic than men. Anyways, to answer you question, as men can be gay, there's quite a bit of overlap between gay rights and men's rights. There is a definite double standard amongst some guys when it comes to homosexuality in that they see lesbian action as "hot" and something to be encouraged but activity between gay men is opposed. If they're straight guys, they will never look at them the sa…

As a bisexual man, I'm not convinced that men are substantially more likely to be homophobic than women are. And you would be correct. Men are actually slightly less likely to be homophobic than women. Here's a chart for people to link if this topic comes up elsewhere on Reddit: http://sas-origin.onstreammedia.com/origin/gallupinc/GallupSpaces/Production/Cms/POLL/cmgekfr6y0ef3h4efaljog.gif

There are less women on boards because there are less women in business to select for those positions. It's only been 10 years since women became the majority of post-secondary graduates but they're slowly rising to the top ranks in proportion to the number of women who entered business decades ago and have become qualified to hold those positions through experience. If women are still under-represented in the high levels of companies in 20 or 30 years - and they are pursuing business related ed…

I know, it looks ridiculous, but that's just how we roll in most commonwealth countries. This is what the Supreme Court of Canada looks like. Remind of you anyone? Ho ho ho? http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/supremecourt/gfx/titlephoto.jpg I believe they and other federal court justices also wear the same wigs when court is in session, but at least other federal judges get to wear the standard black robe.

They don't need to "judge" the case to question the evidence. If they have reason to believe someone is lying or things don't add up, they are supposed to investigate that instead of just assuming everything they're told is true and letting the courts figure it out or not. They have an obligation to ensure they aren't being manipulated by someone else and used as a proxy into seeking revenge or retribution on an innocent person. We're talking about the rights of innocent people here. Police need…

A court heard Mr Ferguson was arrested on suspicion of rape but showed police officers a footage filmed on his mobile phone that proved she was 'enjoying every minute'. It's sad that he was even arrested based on nothing more than someone else's claim. What would have happened to this guy if he hadn't made that video? I've never made a video of myself having sex. If I put myself in his shoes, I too would have been arrested based on nothing more than an accusation, but I wouldn't have video evide…

You know people buy magazines to jerk off to as well, right? Do you think teenage boys are looking at pictures of hot celebrities because they're interested in their fashion choices? Besides, it doesn't matter what you call it, it matters what the law calls it. We are talking about the legality of those pictures and you still haven't cited the law you're referring to. Your entire premise is based on an assumption that isn't accurate and when you're asked to substantiate that original premise, yo…

How is this not against the law by that logic? The logic is that it's not against the law because it's not actually against the law. That's pretty solid logic. Your logic seems to be "This seems like the kind of thing that should be illegal therefore it is illegal." trading pictures to masturbate to is illegal Your entire premise is flawed. This is not illegal. Once again, I'm going to ask you cite the law that you're claiming exists.

Can you please cite some caselaw here? What law are they violating and can we get some examples of similar circumstances leading to an actual conviction? I don't think you know what you're talking about because Reddit initially refused to remove them on the grounds that illegal activity was an objective place to draw the line for what should be allowed. And again, the DOST test would make teen magazines child porn if someone masturbated to it, which is why it's a completely useless metric for an…

I'm familiar with the DOST test, it's what I was referring to when I said standards so loose that fitness magazines would qualify. Sports Illustrated and fashion magazines for teen girls can be considered pornography according to the DOST test.

Yup. Users dug up his public donation history and found out he was contributing to Republicans, but he never really involved himself in politics on the forum. He doesn't seem to be motivated by politics as much as he just has a list of things he really hates for no real reason. Goons hate all of the things he hates, even when it's completely inconsistent with their otherwise progressive views. Ie. They're very pro-gay rights, but Lowtax can't stand furries so they also can't stand furries and ha…

Their "child pornographers" are breaking the law and posting obvious child porn that nobody would dispute is child porn. There are actual victims involved and actual laws being broken. Even with "porn" being so loosely defined that it would qualify most fitness magazines as porn, it's still debatable whether the images posted here even qualify as pornography. Most people rightly think there's a difference between images of children being raped and clothed photos of teenagers. Last I checked, one…

Do you not understand the difference between rights and common decency? Whether or not happiness is guaranteed is irrelevant to whether or not a person has a right to impede another's pursuit thereof. No it isn't. It's fundamental, not irrelevant. You have the right to pursue happiness, you do not have the right to ensure everyone cooperates with you and makes it easy for you and showers you with love and happiness. I'm sorry, but your level of understanding is just so far out of whack with real…

You're talking out of your ass. Your own quote doesn't even support your argument. Where in that quote does it say anything about hurt feelings? Even your own comment doesn't even support your own point. I really can't tell if you're a troll or a complete moron. Show me one document that says you have the right not to have your feelings hurt. Just one. And once again, the pursuit of happiness is not the guarantee of happiness nor is it a guarantee to never have your feelings hurt. You are flat-o…

This is the text of her speech at the First Ladies Conference on Domestic Violence where she made that claim. She made the same claim again in 2011 but she was smart enough not to include her bullshit rationalization for it this time. Obvious bullshit seems less obvious if you don't let people know the flawed logic that let you arrive at that conclusion. If she wants to focus on the impact war has on women, that's absolutely fine, but she needs to drop this "primary victim" bullshit because it's…

Possibly, but if so, she should have actually said that instead of claiming women to be the "primary victims" and then attempting to substantiate this claim with her selective nonsense that ignores the concept of men having sons as well as daughters and boys having fathers as well as mothers. Her words are pretty clear here and it's hard to interpret them as anything other than what she said.

It's a reference to this quote by Hillary Clinton which was posted earlier in the thread: Women have always been the primary victims of war. Women lose their husbands, their fathers, their sons in combat. Apparently, fathers who die in war only have daughters and sons who die only have mothers. Hell, forget about the suffering of boys losing fathers and fathers losing boys to war, which Ms. Clinton doesn't seem to think is comparable to daughters losing fathers or mothers losing sons - even the …

You are an idiot. First of all, you need to look up the definitions of libel and slander because neither one is based on hurt feelings. Second, the right to pursue happiness means just that - you have the right to pursue happiness. It is not a requirement that everyone else refrain from hurting your feelings. Simply put, you don't know what you're talking about.

There is no gender discrimination in war, only suffering for all involved. There is no discrimination except that men can be conscripted and forced to fight while women cannot, but you know, there's no gender discrimination in war or anything. Also, your fact about Rankin is interesting info but ultimately irrelevant here. The issue is not the existence of war, which was largely justified given the enemy were the goddamn nazis, but the fact that men and women are held to completely different sta…

You have a right not to get your feelings hurt No you don't, you fucking imbecile. There is no right in any country to never have hurt feelings. Having your feelings hurt is not a violation of your rights.
