Congrats! Can you say more about how you went from unemployment to finding your new job at 82k?

How did you find out?

I think a man should only cold approach if the woman gives him a signal. I read somewhere recently that just 100 years ago ladies would drop something in front of a man she wanted to speak to in the street so he would pick it up for her. Reminds me of the ‘bend and snap’ from Legally Blonde 😂 So, I’m not opposed to the cold approach but only if I’m also making eye contact with the man or smiling at him back.

This is exactly why it’s a red flag for me if a man even chooses the competitive Hinge prompts. Like “bet you can’t…”, “I bet I’m better than you at…”, etc. I can’t stand men who want to compete with me. It’s always toxic
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy03/04/22 04:31 AM

Did you speak often after you met? Was it a slow burn, or like texting every day?

One of mine came back trying to friend me on LinkedIn because he’s blocked everywhere else. Got immediately blocked again, but gave me a laugh. There’s one guy though that I would just love to bump in to after he ghosted me years ago just so I can blind him with my glow up 😂

I agree with you. I’m not a reality tv watcher so I feel lost listening to these episodes. I still listen as I look forward to this podcast every week

I’ve found that pretending that I’m mute and deaf is very effective. Just think of them as ghosts who can’t communicate from the other side
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/03/22 01:19 AM

I think that’s probably the way to go: the person who broke it off should reach out when/if they want to stay in touch. It feels respectful to their boundaries. Do other ladies here agree?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/03/22 10:08 PM

How did you transition to friends after you broke it off? Did you wait for him to reach out?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/03/22 05:22 PM

I’m so glad you’re leaving! A lot of these points remind me of my worst ex. Can you save the cats too? I’m at that point myself where I’d just take them if I was in a similar situation again. I know this guy, he wouldn’t retaliate.

Men who feel the need to list themselves as an “investor” is starting to give me alarm bells on dating apps. Everyone should be investing for their future for the long-term and short-term, but in my experience they turn out to be crypto bros if they feel the need to talk about it

Thank you so much for your story! It makes me feel less alone. I plan to visit his city because I’d genuinely like to live there, even if things don’t happen with this guy. The scariest thing is moving away from my friends and family.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy22/02/22 12:45 PM

Who moved to whose city and how far apart were you? I’m asking because I really like a guy who is long distance and I don’t know the realities of a relationship like that

He wanted to know if I kept in touch with them, what they were doing now, and it seemed like he was prompting me to talk negatively about them. He said he assumed I hated my exs. Overall he came in to the date with a lot of assumptions that bothered me. He should have been open to getting to know who I am as a person. I agree there’s no good reason to want this info. It felt nefarious and violating
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy14/02/22 03:33 PM

This first date I went on recently the guy kept asking about my exs. It was so awkward

I think I was a rebound. He told me he loved me pretty soon after we started dating but I don’t think he even liked me. I was the only thing he had going for him. A big growth moment for me, and thank goddess for FDS.

I’m reflecting on a few relationships I’ve been in that the guy wasn’t over an ex and realizing they weren’t subtle for the most part except one. He started telling me to do my makeup differently and wear different clothes. Then I found out later he was trying to make me look like her. I found pictures. Other guys were more obvious. They were still talking to ex, talking about ex, and even putting themselves in group situations to see ex.

I have in the distant past, twice. They didn’t change and they thought they could just jump back in without even trying to build the relationship back. I’d never do it again and I warn others not to. My friend just married her ex that she got back with. He has a drinking problem and I’m terrified for her but sometimes people have to make their own mistakes and don’t want to learn from yours

I’m getting these feelings too about future faking. On a related note, day trading is a red flag for me. It’s akin to gambling. Long-term investing is the smart option to building your portfolio. Plus, just hearing the word “crypto” from a guy sets off alarm bells for me that he doesn’t know about money or that he’s doing something shady online
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy14/01/22 01:42 PM

I don’t even understand how you get porn on Nintendo. It’s exactly how you said, boiling frogs.

I paused here too. It’s good they parted on friendly terms, but why check up on ex’s later? In my experience it’s to see if they’re available for one-night stands and other nefarious reasons

There’s too many red flags stacking up and he’s frustrating you. This isn’t making you happy. Keep meeting new guys and tell this one you’re not interested. Block his number if you need to so you aren’t bothered by his response. I’m betting he’ll protest
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy05/01/22 12:47 AM

Yes! I once dated a guy whose whole family and him were aggressive about it. It was a topic of conversation every time I saw them. “Why do you eat like that?” “Is that enough food for you?”

It’s like when I tell a man, “that feels good, keep doing that” and instead he switches positions
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy24/12/21 05:38 AM
88

I know what that feels like. I made friends with a group of people, started dating a guy friend, and none of the women in the group warned me. They just watched as it melted down. He started sleeping with another woman in the group and I slowly discovered he had slept with a few others in the past. I confronted her because I thought we were friends, but she reacted like that meme of the possum guarding its dumpster saying “don’t touch my garbage!” I don’t talk to most of those people anymore
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy24/12/21 05:32 AM
294

I am so sad for her that she is even asking this question. She should be blocking his number and disappearing. It seems so obvious but how can you profess to love someone who did this to you and now scares you??
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy23/12/21 04:07 AM
103

It’s not normal to be attracted to a man acting like a child to get affection from you. It’s so gross! Those people telling you that you’re weird are gaslighting themselves. I agree with you, I think asexuality is over diagnosed in women
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/12/21 04:54 AM
15

I bet that’s exactly what the friend did! As for how I feel about men with sex toys, in my experience they’re also heavy porn users. I find men with toys off putting but at the same time I wouldn’t be against it. He just probably wouldn’t be the guy for me
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/12/21 04:51 AM
21

I agree. In my early 20s a good guy spent at least $100 to $300. I got a tv, a kitchen appliance, and a gaming console from one guy for example. (Separate occasions.) Now in my 30s I’m expecting more than that and I’m sure I’ll get $1000 and up gifts in my 40s
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy17/12/21 07:31 PM

I say it after he says it and also proves it with his actions. I’ve been lied to plenty of times before by men who are love-bombing and generally saying it too soon to force intimacy
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/12/21 10:25 PM

It stands out to me how these men continually ask her if she has mental or emotional issues. It tells me that they think only damaged women would do this kind of porn and that it’s an excuse for these men to take advantage of these women because they’re damaged. Writing “Look what she’s done!” on her videos to make it sound like it was all her idea and we just happened to be filming. They ultimately know porn is fucked up and wrong, so they’re removing themselves and casting blame on the women w…

I don’t have a good answer. In my experience I’ve gained weight when I’ve been in a relationship with someone who was making me absolutely miserable

What do you think about photos with obvious family members? Like if he includes a photo of himself with a woman who looks like she could be his mom (no caption)? Personally I think it’s weird for a couple reasons. Those people probably didn’t consent to be in your dating profile, and also it appears to say you spend too much time with family. They’ll always come first if we get in a serious relationship.

My last boyfriend absolutely questioned anything I knew about that he didn’t. He didn’t know the answer but would flat out deny I was right when I knew the answer. And sometimes even after he googled to find out I was right, he’d still make up some excuse why it couldn’t be true. Just remembering this makes me wish I’d slapped him when I had the chance 😇

I’m glad he’s willing to take care if you. I’m worried about your UTI though because of my experience with them. I’ve only ever gotten them from having sex with someone I shouldn’t. It’s my body’s way of warning me this guy is no good before my head realizes it

I agree, i smelled a whiff of narcissistic abuse coming from the writer that got my back up about the issue. I would want to hear from everyone involved before I make a final judgement. My personal experience with narcissistic mother-in-laws gives me pause
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy16/11/21 07:15 PM

Maybe I’m missing something but in many western cultures it’s normal not to live with your parents-in-law. It seems reasonable to ask her to leave but i can understand she feels like she should be rewarded or compensated for her work to help her son’s family through this death. That’s an issue they’ll have to work out as a family Edit to add; what does she mean she feels like she’s being “punished for the sins of a dead woman”?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy16/11/21 05:31 PM
33

Please listen to this advice OP and run! I’ve had this same experience almost to a T. He makes you feel bad because he is bad. Just because a guy acknowledges he is working on something doesn’t mean he is or will ever change. It’s a lie! They learn over time what words to say to get you to stick around which is why we listen to what our body is telling us

I have to wonder if you vetted long enough before having sex? That should ensure that you and him are comfortable enough to not have performance-anxiety issues. I’m getting the feeling if you keep seeing this guy, the mask or the other shoe will drop. It won’t be just the sex that is a red flag

Honestly wish I hadn’t wasted my time getting in low value relationships in my 20s. If I could have a do-over I would date and have fun, but leave guys who were dead ends and holding me back. I wouldn’t have gotten entangled in abusive relationships. Learn from my experience and immediately block and delete a guy who makes you feel worthless, upset, confused, or any mix of negative emotions.

I feel the same way about too much family contact. I once dated a guy who spoke to both of his parents on the phone daily! He was almost 30 and it was like he was still a teenager. I was surprised he volunteered that info especially since I didn’t ask for it. It was a good amount of money for someone in their 20s but still under 100k, so not a lot. He was trying to brag, but it felt icky. Is it just me or is this a red flag?

Why did she stick it out? At this point I think it’s because he saddled her with so many children and built this hugely successful company with her, that now it’s too difficult for her to extricate herself. Maybe in the future when her children are older and the hype has died down, she’ll leave. I hope.

For me, a guy I date seriously has to have at least as much as me, preferably more. I own my home and live by myself, so that’s the minimum for my partner because I need us to be in the same stage of life for compatibility. I’ve tried dating men with less, and it doesn’t work out. It’s uncomfortable and often the man resents me or treats me worse for living differently than him

Ugh me too, my past self was not dating the most attractive guys because honestly there’s so few guys that meet my standards and I didn’t want to be alone. I guess the best thing is the lessons I learned from experience, but I’ll never again date an average dude

They find children sexually attractive. That’s it. That’s what they’re trying to explain, and the word that gives them away is “hot”. No sane person person would look at a cute child and say “hot”. Wow I’ve dated this guy before. Long story short, all that extravertedness was his cover for meeting as many women as possible. He kept a harem of close girl “friends” who he slept with, eventually dumping me to go back to being a slut. I found out after we broke up what was really going on. Thankfully, we didn’t date for long. He was extremely insecure on the inside, which was obvious to anyone who wasn’t being taken in by his charm. Anyway, trust your gut. Something isn’t right with this guy

I’ve dated a couple guys with minor health issues and found both relationships revolved around those issues. For example, it was always an excuse to be lazy or to do what they wanted to do. They expected me to put these issues before my own needs. I don’t want to sound insensitive but these issues weren’t life-threatening (plus they were in their 20s then). Wow after reading that, he’s a NVM for sure. Poor Carrie

I had a guy do the same thing with telling me he wanted to use my skills for his personal project so he could make money. Didn’t even offer to pay me! “Oh great you do that? I need this for my side hustle so I’ll be calling you.” Is that supposed to be a compliment? I don’t understand why you think I’d find it appealing that you want to put me to work for free

It’s a medical miracle that we can treat breast cancer and survive. Personally I’d still choose to forgo implants if I needed a mastectomy. I refuse to feel pressured to have breasts after I just survived cancer and major surgery

I feel this same way about breast implants. I just can’t feel okay about it no matter how many times a young woman says she’s doing it for her and not because men like it. If it wasn’t for the culture we live in, you wouldn’t think twice about having large breasts. They’re annoying!

Love this! I can confirm I don’t get approached very often and I think in the past this has been a factor in why I’ve dated the few LV men who have approached me. Usually they’re friends of friends who use that to their advantage. Where do you buy your earrings? I’m looking to invest in some lovely new pieces to replace my cheaper costume jewelry

This should be taught to all girls in sex ed when they’re in school. It should be standard relationship education. I needed this when I started dating

The single 20-somethings I know are alcoholics too. Drinks every day after work, and all night Friday and Saturday

One of my exs told me he got tested all the time because he’s in the army. I believed him and let him not use a condom. This was before I knew better. The sex was predictably trash. Looking back now I know he was porn sick but I didn’t know the signs at the time. Thankfully we weren’t together long and I didn’t get an STI from him. He’s a slut and was talking to other women as soon as we broke up and even started sleeping with an acquaintance. I’m sure he never used condoms with anyone. I’m so t…

Honestly I can feel it in my bones that we hunted in prehistoric times. This is obvious to any woman, but science and history was written by men

I’m simultaneously seeing warnings that by 2050 we’ll have 10 billion people on this planet that we’re struggling to feed and proving resources and food for these people will cause out-of-control climate change weather events. So isn’t declining birth rate for the best? I understand we’ll have a larger population of older folks as tome goes on, but we’ll deal. I have to see the decline in births as a very good thing for many reasons

I asked my ex one day what he likes about me, and out of no where he starts freaking out that his ex’s used to do this to him and it’s some kind of a trap/trick question. What the fuck was that?

Do you have tips on how to bring it up? I talked to a friend recently about the dangers of porn and she’d never heard anything like that before. I’m not sure how she took it after she had time to think about it, but when I talked to her she seemed skeptical

I think I had a guy try to do this to me. I told him I didn’t want to give him my email but didn’t say why (I just don’t want to give out personal info to people I don’t know). Then he starts going on about how I probably have a traumatic past with guys. The whole thing was completely unprompted and even when I said “no that’s not the reason, I just don’t give out my email”, he wouldn’t drop it. Blocked Edited to add: He tried the whole “I’m not like those guys” line 😂

I think online dating is dead for me. It feels icky just to have my pics out there, and swiping apps don’t let me filter by categories that are important to me. I’m also generally turned off by guys who use a lot of social media

I’ve lived this. Before I broke up with my last NVM I was getting cold sores all the time for seemingly no reason. After the break up, no more! Turns out he was stressing me so badly it was like I was constantly sick

Agree, there need to be more options for men. I’m looking for a guy with a vasectomy. I wish that getting this procedure was more popular and accepted by men. Hormones don’t work for me
