I can understand why you would be upset about it. It's an honestly shitty position that Stay at home dads face. I try not to pay attention to the terminology the internet cooks up for men and women, but I do know from the people I have interacted with that Stay at home Dads, and even just house husbands, are treated fairly poorly due to the preset notion that all men must be out working all the time in America.

I actually like your attitude towards marriage, to be honest. It sounds like you are still willing to get together with someone that you like, and you know better than to think that a piece of paper dictates what two people should or shouldn't do. And not to mention, people who are flexible enough to consider what their SO's want are fairly rare occurences.

Never let yourself get disillusioned when it comes to the heart, just make sure you use your head sometimes too. Somebody I know told me that once, then again... it was her second divorce so maybe her advice was pretty terrible. xD And maybe that man will still walk into your life, don't be scared to propose the crap out of him anyways. haha! I actually do prefer my SO to be the more forward person in the relationship, which baffles most everybody I know. For some reason wanting to be proverbially swept off of ones feet is a foreign concept when it comes to men.

I really do hope that it's changing. I've known more men that hated their jobs and wished that they could spend more time with their kids or at home than I can count. Taking care of kids is tough, and the father/mother deserves the respect if he/she does stay at home to take care of his/her kids. The stay at home mom role is often assumed to be the correct role, especially in bible thumper territory. I can't help but feel that most people would consider men like me to be layabouts and useless, at least in America. I mean... look at stay at home dads. They are treated almost literally like shit by most other "manly working men". And that sucks. It's a sucky negative stigma, but, if I could find a girl that I liked that was happy to go for it... well. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Bingo. That's me. I'd love to "marry up", find a nice gal that loved her job and didn't mind being the bread winner. Especially if it left me time to write and do some freelance photography. Not to mention if it left me home to cook... damn. I'd love the shit out of that.

I wouldn't mind being finacially dependent on my wife if she was doing a job she liked and it left me time to pursue activities that I enjoyed. Such as writing. Or freelance photography. Cooking as well. Anybody that complains about what two consenting adults choose to do should get bent and shove their opinion back up the black abyss of their asshole from whence it came.

Thank you, I've tried to get her into therapy before... she took poorly to it. Though it has been long enough since then that perhaps it would be for the best to try again. I never considered the possiblity of this being a form of PTSD, and the website you linked me is... scary in a few observations. Thank you very much for your outlook on this. You have helped greatly.

I was simply thinking of this from the standpoint of where would the message have the most impact. If we know that most rapists are men who grow up in X type of household with Y type of education, then measures can be taken to subtly steer them away from ever having that chance. Even in america? I find it hard to accept that there is not some form of statistic in some of the more civilized countries... And, this thought does strike me, if women raping men were a large issue it would be widely documented. If it's a rarer crime then perhaps that is why it has gone so long without being openly discussed? It's a possibility.

I'm sorry, but is it not completely possible that the boy wanted her to do it? I mean, I don't know about the rest of you but when I was seventeen I would have killed to get some action on with some of the hotter teachers in school.
