Yes totally this! It’s like they’re emotionally stunted and stuck in HS. Same for folks 10+ years talking about college, who cares?

The parents and family thing - yes yes yes. Huge red flag.

Ugh - I love cooking but don’t mention it now to avoid this. Same for yoga, guys instantly think “oooh flexible 🤪” meanwhile I’m doing yoga mostly for mental health from the trauma these immature guys have caused.

Oh gosh - this is so true. As well as any "all my exes are crazy" those are the 2 red flags I wish I didn't ignore

My ex did this and it drove me nuts. He would always say “be natural” while I was like “gtfo”

My ex was so bad with traffic - needlessly aggressive, flipping people off because they merged “wrong” (they were fine), and not leaving a gap. Didn’t care at all when I told him his driving stressed me out and I asked him to be less aggressive. Completely reckless. Also totaled his car and dented mine.

Thanks! This group, a few others focused on abuse, and some books have helped me piece together more of the red flags I ignored. For anyone who may read this and be going through something similar, I hope they know it will be worth it to leave. The relief I felt sleeping alone, no longer walking on eggshells cannot be put into words.

Recent but my ex accused me of flirting with random guys at a bar even though I was with him, holding his hand, dancing the entire time. Went to the bathroom and he was nearly in a fight with a bartender, being pulled off and then slammed his way through a crowd, breaking things. Saying it was all the bartenders fault, he did nothing, it wasn’t even expensive stuff he broke. He calmed down. I told him when we got home I’d help him pack and he needed to figure out where he was staying. Hardest th…

One I missed, he revealed his own personal childhood trauma very very very fast. This made me feel bad for him, and he used it as an excuse whenever I brought up anything that bothered me.

Omg yes - and then it builds - starts smaller where you brush it off. Know they know they can get away with that, they do more. It gets worse, never better.

The love-bombing was so overwhelming and felt so real, I still question if it was. It’s suuuuuper sneaky where they test and push your boundaries h til one day you wake up and realize how much BS you’re accepting.

Timing couldn’t be better. Just broke up with violent LVM last week and this really helped me.

Honestly, the sign out and the wink at the end make me really uncomfortable. I'm a little sensitive to that kind of thing based on some bad experiences, but please stay safe and don't just laugh it off if he escalates. That is not a normal, healthy individual to send that message. But good for you leaving him!

This is great because it means he likely didn’t get any numbers from women on Hinge so he’s clearly LVM.
