i am a rather shy guy Through this out the window. Are you shy around people you know, when meeting new people in a situation where you are comfortable/have control (like work), or someone knocking on your door at home? It's approach anxiety and you can overcome that through getting out there and approaching. Shy is a label most likely placed on you by family/friends and reinforced over time, by yourself even. Fuck labels.

It's manipulative? The guys in the comic are pissed because while trying to manipulate someone else's feelings, they got played themselves. I'm still learning here, but I use the "guy friend" test. If it's not something I would do for a guy friend or to help out another random stranger, I don't do it just because I think the girl is attractive. I would much rather just strike up a conversation on my own merits instead of doing something "nice" for a girl to get her to talk to me.

Awesome, cause I'm in a similar situation. I'm still a bit younger than you but I'm on the wrong side of 30. Nice to know age is not a limiting factor.

I'm gonna jump in here since I'm pretty much a lurker. This subreddit has been awesome in how it's changed my perspective on life and relationships. I still have a long way to go, but I also want to reinforce what the OP said.

I just realize now that they are just as shallow as I am. You attract to yourself that which you are in vibrational harmony with, not that which you long for or even deserve.

Practice. Ask open ended questions, not yes/no. Listen. Key in on points they mention. Talk about how you can relate, if you can. Practice. Be prepared to carry the majority of the conversation at the beginning for quiet people. Don't stick to one topic for the whole conversation. If you can't find something else, you aren't listening. Practice. Be genuinely interested in the other person. Smile. Did I mention practice? Make conversation with as many people as you can as you go about your day. N…
