Except that he was forthright and honest about his boundaries which clearly were not compatible with her expectations and yet she stayed hoping he would change. Based on OPs description, it sounds like she grew embittered or hostile as she realized that his boundaries were firm rather than taking the mature approach and leaving.

I agree. I'm just pointing out that it is a clear double standard. It seems like men are expected to be the "adult" in the relationship and break things off if the woman won't respect his boundaries. By contrast, consider the potential results when a man refuses to respect a woman's boundaries.

I don't see the problem. As long as you are open and honest about your goals and boundaries in the relationship, there shouldn't be any problems, right? If she is sticking it out hoping that your boundaries will change, then I see that as similar to a man trying to "wear her down" to give in to sex. Boundaries should be respected.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
