Some dudes on there are like "I have tendonitis from work so I get what means to sell my body" 🤦🏻‍♀️

As women we have to make concessions to our individual liberty when it comes to our personal safety. Risk reduction is important but it isn't the same as actual prevention. The majority of women are assaulted by someone they know and trust. Victim blaming is one of the pillars of rape culture. Focusing on what she did to "put herself in that situation" doesn't sound any different than what a defense attorney says about a victim in a rape case. There's nothing radical about blaming women for bein…

I'm not ashamed of my argument or where it comes from lol. I've read just as much radfem work as I'm sure you have. I've never heard the term "flush out an argument." That would imply I should flush out my beliefs on this and I'm pretty strong in my convictions. But as a good feminist it's important to think of power, yes? What is the power dynamic between an older woman telling a young woman her argument is ineffective because she's too pretty to make it? That she's pandering to the male gaze? …

Girls and women come to feminism at different points throughout their lives. Her brain isn't fully developed. The majority of us thought the same when we were younger but then after a women's studies course or a space like FDS we learned differently. We all have unlearning to do and she's starting her journey. I just don't like shitting on young people opening their eyes to the world around them. Not trying to sound like an ass but the term is "flesh out" not "flush out."

Being influenced and pandering are two different things. And I never said lesbians are immune to misogyny just that she isn't trying to attract men. She's 20. She's figuring things out and spreading an important message to young people on tik tok. We just disagree on this. Downvote the post and move on.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, women having financial independence is one of the most important components of women's liberation. We want partners not providers. We want to be valued for our wit, our intelligence, our integrity, and our personalities. We don't want to exchange domestic and sexual duties for financial support. We can support our own damn selves. Men need to level up and evolve.

I don't think she's pandering to alternative men, pretty sure she's a femme lesbian. She's just young and figuring it all out. I thought she had a good message.

The video is popular because a lot of women resonate with it. I'm not sure why it has to be a competition? Shouldn't we listen to any women spouting radical messages? We're all in different places in our journey deprogramming patriarchal messaging. We can listen to conventionally attractive women as well as women who don't conform to beauty standards.

Truly! They can't handle not being the center of attention because they've grown up having every book, every movie, every tv show center the male perspective and male protagonists. Men are assumed the norm. The standard human. When looking at a skeleton people assume it's a male unless it has a bow on or some shit. They created a system they primarily benefit from in which we're relegated to fucktoys, mothers, bitches, and non-existent. Like every time anyone talks about FGM, men will always ALW…

I LOVE the focus on women being resilient. I think there are many men who want to wear makeup but since it's coded as feminine, they face a lot of social disapproval and even violence from other men. Our society hates anything deemed feminine and dismisses it as dumb.

The makeup convo is SUCH a quagmire. Women are heavily socialized to look pretty and access to being pretty is dependent on power structures related to race, class, gender identity. The cosmetics industry is multi-billion industry that preys on our insecurities plus daily makeup wearing is normalized. For instance, look at female newscasters. It becomes the price we pay to be seen. BUT I also feel a way about anything that has been coded as feminine getting completely dragged. Men also think mak…

Right! Like, people age. As much as I love dragging men, I'm not a big fan of making fun of people who have visibly aged. Aging is something we want to normalize. Courtney Cox has had so much filler, to say she's aged well is EXACTLY what patriarchy wants. To convince women thet the only way we can avoid "the wall" is if we spend thousands on filler, botox, and other procedures. That is not aging well. That is trying to preserve your face to look the same as it did when you were in your 20s. Let…

And the amount of emotional labor that goes into these conversations. As women we're so tone policed that we have to bring up things in a way that gets heard but doesn't come across as too nagging. It's literally a minefield. Men don't listen to women so I'm not sure why they think it would be any different in this context.

It is 100% a made up construct by humans. Animals aren't like "ohh I lost my virginity." No one else in the animal kingdom cares. It's a patriarchal value put on women in particular so that men are relevant. Women know their babies are their own. Men invented virginity so that they could control women's fertility.

Younger women are more naive to how terrible men really are. Once you're in your 30s you're clued in to men's bullshit and don't put up with it. They see younger women as empty vessels they can mansplain the world to and don't really care about her personality. It's honestly pathetic.

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy04/05/21 02:55 PM

Exactly. With other men it's a human harming another human, so they can muster empathy for him because they feel a human connection to him. They don't have that for us. They see us as subhuman and that we can't be traumatized because how could an object be traumatized? They conflate sex and rape all the time when it comes to men raping women but then completely understand the difference when it comes to men raping other men.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy04/05/21 02:35 PM

Exactly. They see women as objects to get "fucked" by men so they see rape as part of the natural order and somehow not as bad for women because they see us as made for it. Domestic violence shelters and rape crisis hotlines came out of the feminist movement in the 60s and 70s. Prior to that, women were supposed to just shut up and deal with being beaten by their husbands. They pushed for legislation and for marital rape and domestic violence to actually be crimes, which they weren't really considered before. While men do experience violence from women, statistically women are way more likely to be killed by their intimate partners which is why domestic violence sh…

This is 100% true but there is a historical dynamic in the US where white women would lie that they were raped by a black man and the black man would then be lynched. Both are true at the same time.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/04/21 11:41 PM

Seriously couldn't read past the first sentence due to rage blindness of 40 year old women being referred to as "girls"
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/04/21 09:59 PM
23

Yeah it's like a weird interplay between race and gender because white women know what happens when black men are faced with white men. I just think of Amy Cooper in central park. You can see how she's trying to manipulate the police and she knows black men die when police are called. It's a way white women use white womanhood to have white men come to their defense. So yeah it's a symptom of patriarchy but white women play an important part in upholding white supremacy.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/04/21 06:50 PM
27

I'm so sorry to hear someone harmed you like that. Thank you for sharing with me. Definitely not saying black men don't rape white women. Just saying race and gender in the US have a complicated relationship.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/04/21 05:36 PM

I appreciate the dialogue! We're walking around with hundreds of years of history at our backs. So when a black man passes a white woman on the street he might fear she'll falsely accuse him of something and call the police, which could end with him dying. Meanwhle she might fear he'll attack her, which could end with her dying. I don't think race trumps gender because I think they're really interconnected. It's tough because in the US there's a whole history of white women falsely accusing black men of rape and black men being lynched because of it. It's an uncomfortable truth. Another uncomfortable truth is that black women are more likely to be harmed by black men. Both things are true at the same time. White women tend to downplay race. Black men tend to downplay gender. That's why Kimberle Crenshaw coined the term intersectionality, BIPOC women live at the crossroad of gender and race based op…

I've heard the saying "men use power to get sex. Women use sex to get power." So either way, men have the power. Men dole out that power if they want. They use that power to harass women. "Using sex" to get a job is way more of a tell about men than women. Men are the root of the problem, not women trying to survive in the patriarchy.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/04/21 10:37 PM
46

Women's sexual "empowerment" maps directly into heteronormative and patriarchal expectations. Women "choosing" to engage in sex work focus more on pleasuring men and pleasing the male gaze. No one thinks sex workers have power, look at how men talk about them. They're treated like pieces of meat who shouldn't have thoughts and opinions. Anyone who says sex work is empowering is just experiencing some major cognitive dissonance.

Just because someone is a woman doesn't mean she doesn't have internalized misogyny. Some women who are more butch or masculine have deeply internalized superiority to femmes. I l…

Because they don't understand what it means to engage with women as humans and not objects. Since they view us as sex objects they can't comprehend how we don't see other women as sex objects. Even women we want to have sex with 😂

Men always make fun of women going to pee after we have sex. Bro it's because your dick is covered in bacteria and I don't want to get a UTI from you.

Marriage isn't going to change a guy. So many women get married thinking it will somehow fundamentally change a man. It won't. Ya have to be able to have all the convos. How do you see distribution of labor? Money? Do you both want kids? If so, how do you foresee childrearing? If you can't have those convos, you shouldn't marry the person. Marriage is primarily about partnership and shared financial resources in this day and age.

I hope you're not still seeing this guy. Choking is a huge huge red flag in the domestic/dating prevention world. I'm so sorry he did this to you. I hope you're safe and away from him. ❤

They also lie about how violent and dehumanizing porn is. They'll say, straight to your face, that only a small subset of porn is violent.

No lies detected here. A good sexual partner listens to what their partner wants. Assholes tend not to listen to women.
