Shutup bitch. Stop nagging me and trying to tell me what I should do and not do. I do what I want.

Pretend you heard something else, and answer that: "No, you can't take a shower with me. I want to shower alone."

A woman thinks that what a man wants is a shameful sin, and that what she wants is a commandment from God.

Put on a stern face, make a gavel-swinging motion and in a deep, loud voice declare "guilty!".

You can try something I call “intentional misinterpretation”. We can respond with a generally useful phrase: “You have no idea.” This is usually a rhetorical device whose meaning is not meant to be considered too carefully, so it's uttered casually; with the right tone you can re-emphasize the literal meaning, and by so doing redirect the target of the comment onto yourself and away from her, and at the same time implying his lesser value: [spoken carefully and emphatically] “You...have no idea.…

"Hi, I'm John, who're you?" Better: “Hi, I'm John. Tell me your name.” For a polite introduction, the tone should suggest curiosity. If you want to be Imperator, you must speak in the imperative.

“okay” implies assent; the only way to counter that implication of assent is with sarcasm so heavy that it's a turn-off. Since the blatherings of attention-seeking women are like those of attention-seeking children, this seems a propos: When we were children, and were blathering something stupid to my Dad, he would adopt an expression of subtle amusement and say “izat right?” or “zat so?” It provides just enough attention to keep them interested, just enough doubt to make the hamster spin, and i…

And of those who stay married, how many are happy? I've always taken this to be in what you might call the penumbra of The Red Pill: you cannot expect to be happy. Seeking happiness without virtue will bring neither contentment nor happiness. I have now reigned above fifty years in victory and peace, beloved by my subjects, dreaded my enemies, respected by my allies. Riches and honors, power and pleasure, have waited on my call, nor does any earthly blessing appear to be wanting for my felicity.…

He was still waiting for his pension, so helping a little is the right move. Then: offer to come in and clean up as well as you can at a very high hourly rate, work starts after full payment of pension.

There is a game you must play with children too. We should have a whole subreddit for that.

I don't think that this kind of Machiavellian über-game comes into it at all. Being a woman, her response is going to be based almost exclusively on her feelings, and her feelings won't allow her to see her son as a potential mate. She can't change her feelings, and her feelings won't let her change her point of view. This is why woman generally are not adept at hypothesis. Her feelings are nurturing feelings, and that's the kind of answer she gave: “You're wonderful as you are, little one, don'…

It still seems strange to me to call it a “theory”. But such is the fate of common sense in an age of folly.

One of the best series, ever. Plenty of TRP throughout. The only woman of any virtue in the whole series is Octavia, who commits suicide to escape the depravity of the age. And even she was a horrible mother to Claudius. But it is full of virtuous men (which virtue is often explicitly exploited by women).

Absolutely not. This is just whining, and will make you look weak. Talking is her strength; silence is yours. Tell her nothing, but stop being manipulable. Learn to smile and laugh convincingly through the sense of dread her deep threats evoke. The more she threatens you, the weaker will be their effect on you, and the habit of smiling and laughing through them will make you stronger each time you do it. Be a rock; she can either choose the stand on it, or break herself against it. I've been mar…
