Probably because they single fathers make twice as much money as single moms and are much more likely to cohabitate with a new partner who shares parental responsibilities and finances. They are also much more likely to have the mother still in the picture, even if she doesn't have full custody. People treat single fathers like they are heroes, and treat single mothers like they have baggage.

See my other response for links to some of those statistics. I'm not saying men should go for full custody, just 50/50. Physical custody is different from legal custody. Most physical custody is awarded to the mother because she is the primary caregiver. Dads only seem to want to spend time with their kids after a divorce. Funny how that works. It's relatively equal, slightly leaning towards men in most of the studies I've seen. Men also have different motives than women. Men do it for revenge and control. I agree. People getting married should be equally yoked in beliefs, values, and goals. Unfortunately, men tend to go for young, fertile women, while women tend to go for older, financially secure men. The point was that women risk their bodies and lives in order to have kids, but men only care about money. If you divorce, she is only entitled to half of the marital property. She can't get your inheritance, or assets acquired before marriage. How is that unfair? You agreed to support her and your children. That's the entire point of marriage.
