My ex and I schedule a time to talk once a week about the kiddos. That’s all we need to successfully co-parent. Neither of us have any urge to communicate beyond being good parents. Think of it like a business relationship. We have it set up where we pick up and drop off at school so we also don’t have to see one another.

You don’t have kids?! Your opinion is invalidated. I’m really glad you don’t have kids. If you did I would feel awful for them. Maybe if you did you’d have a clue. Sit down and let the parents talk.

Try your best to keep it amicable for the kids.

It’s completely understandable. You’re dealing w some seriously fucked up shit. Hug your boys and be the best dad possible. Just be happy she’s a good mom. It’s okay to be emotional (angry, sad, etc) but it’s all about how you respond to those emotions. Have you spoken with your wife yet?

Don’t tell them. It’s between you guys. Telling them would just fuck them up. Number one is always the kids. Just my opinion. Good luck man, I’m really sorry.

Dude, that is exactly what is going through my head now. I’ve been doing pretty well but this week has been really rough (it’s the ex’s birthday). I have so many unanswered questions and feel/know she has been dishonest with me for a long time. I’m better off without her but that doesn’t help that I miss my life pre-divorce and at times wish I could go back.

A book that helped me a lot was Rebuilding when the Relationship Ends.

Took me a solid six months to get over the shock and the entire time I thought I was fine.

It was a shock. Needed to happen but I wasn’t prepared. We were both unhappy w one another for years.

I did it and two months in it just went sour. I was still in shock and didn’t really know it. A year later and I just kinda started again but to be honest it still feels weird.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
