They don't think men are all violent it's just that if they were to be they could be, it's just a more complicated thing than what original guy commented. Most wives know their husbands are stronger than them physically, in that case he is technically a threat, but there's more to it than that and they don't view their husbands as having some inner original sin simply because he could theoretically be a threat.
