From what you've described it's similar to that for the most part but the main point researchers have found that it really depends by person. Some men and women have higher pain tolerance tolerances and thresholds while some men and women don't. The article linked from live science or sciencealert goes into detail about it and links studies so it's definitely an interesting read.

That's just plain incorrect. Women typically have higher pain thresholds, mainly for the fact that women have to give birth. However there's a difference between pain threshold and pain tolerance and it's completely subjective and dependent on the individual. Some people have higher pain tolerance and thresholds and some people have lower ones.
