His response to the hit was more appropriate, immediate, open handed, and relatively equal response to the action taken. I didn't see the other video you are referring to, so I cannot comment.

It's different in terms of response. The other video the guy had an appropriate response. Multiple attackers clearly attempting to hit hard. He also, as far as I can tell didn't instigate the violence. In that video I agree with that mans response. This video to me is similar to having a child hit you then clobbering their face and calling it an equal response. By law this man is wrong, and I believe rightly so.

I'm assuming you're talking about the presidency. Democracy did work, trump won based on the rules. Popular vote results don't matter. If the rules were based on popular vote the candidates would have campaigned differently, and voters would have behaved differently. For example I guarantee that knowing your candidate wouldn't win your state influenced weather you voted at all or voted third party as a protest vote.
