The kids. Fear of parental alienation. She would quickly find a new partner and then have to deal with step parents.

Something from the kids that won't rock the boat? A hand written card from them. A coffee mug they all painted on. Something personal, not just "a gift" that's my recommendation. But definitely have them give him something - no gift would be depressing.

11 and 8 can do chores too! Teach them to fold and put away laundry- it may take some training but it'll save time once they know how. They are capable - you just have to train em up which is not fun and they whine - but it's really necessary.

Be careful. They could go after you for child support if they get custody. Just saying.

She's virtue signalling. And sounds like some DARVO maybe too. They never want to be called out on anything and never take ownership of their behavior. It's a fairly typical pattern. Good luck brother

Would she take a payment plan? Just put it in writing. You can also take a 401k loan and pay yourself back the interest.

Get an attorney. You make enough. You're basically their dream client. Not legal advice but...make whatever moves you need to make prior to filing.

Well there is the cost to print and file.

Gather all documents. Make copies- get a full and accurate picture of the finances. Make copies of vital documents like the kids ssn and birth certificates and immunization records. You could always start slowly stacking some cash on the side but it's not likely to be a meaningful amount if you're already making 200k. Just play money really. Maybe spend down shared money on a solo trip with the kids; or something that can't be "split" like a donation, Big car maintenance coming up? Invisalign? "…

It's a "communication method" that you basically treat exes like co workers and just be courteous, professional. Like you're writing a business email to your boss type friendly. It's BS though- totally fake and disingenuous.

Those seem like perfectly legitimate boundaries for dating divorced parents to honor. If a woman wants to integrate kids right away that might be a red flag-

You don't have to marry this girl....just have some fun and see what happens. Also do the work too- you can have a balanced life. Sometimes a distraction can be good as long as you remember what's truly important. Girls will come and go and there's plenty out there.

Thank you. Yes she has a on offer letter and a start date in September and cleared background already. My fear is she will sabotage and quit before she actually begins. I'm sure that would not look good in court though. Ya me and stbxw split up a few years ago- started seeing other people then reconciled for the last 4 years. Mostly I did it because the kids and I was so depressed. Now I'm older and wiser and so are my kids. I'm ready to rip the bandaid off- but need to tread carefully cuz it's …

They always want their cake and eat it too. I call it the princess mentality - entitled, no self awareness, lack of remorse for their bad behavior, expect the world to cater to them. Stay strong brother.

My thoughts exactly. Just another control tactic-power dynamics issue. Like seriously why are you in this sub?? I know l, I know, it's the Internet and don't expect much. We are all anonymous and half of us could be AI bots anyways.

Firstly take care of yourself and the kids. Look in to Al-Anon for free support network of folks that have been through similar scenarios. Detach with love is the best advice I can give and don't trust any of her "promises to sober up" she will do everything to keep herself from facing any consequences. Alcoholics lie cheat and manipulate their way through most relationships. Eventually the kids will see the reality. Stay up brother. We have been there-

There's a George Clooney movie that has a similar scenario-" The Descendants" . I highly recommend it. It's a great movie.

Why is it always that mountains are made of molehills with them? Like who the fuck cares!?!? The control issues are real. The constant need to be in charge of every single little thing all the time. It really gets in the way of just relaxing and enjoying life.

That last line "I don't really have a plan" lolz. Husband was the brains and made the money- she spent it and is now crying poor. Perhaps she can start up a Quant trading fund and make her own money??

My coworker had a baby at 55 y/o with his 28 y/o partner. And his older kids were graduating highschool. I can't imagine starting over like that. With the sleepless nights and diapers. No thank you.

It's called lack of self awareness. Most women have no accountability or desire to improve their behavior. They just react all day long.
/r/Divorce_Men15/09/24 03:49 PM

Well that was her role model as a child and created her expectations around marriage power dynamics.

I workout 6-7 days a week. On my off days I feel a little guilty for not working out. It's become a daily habit for me for my mental health. The physical aspect is almost secondary. Also I just workout at home which makes it logistically alot simpler. Many good YouTube workouts- free and easy.

Parental alienation is so brutal. Been dealing with this for years now. Stay strong. Stay diligent. Take care of yourself. All I do now is just text my 19 y/o to let her know I'm alive and available if she needs anything. Otherwise she just ghosts me 99% of the time. To be fair though; when. I was 19 I wanted absolutely nothing to do with my parents either. So it might just be part of that natural progression towards independence. We shall see. The bonus though is now that she is moved out my 14…

My friend moved to a cheap place in Mexico- cheap rent- cheap food- warm all year round. His kid was in high school, but his ex was nasty as heck. And kid never saw him. He was just a paycheck to them.

Can you borrow against your 401k for some.of it? Or do a HELOC and make payments to her instead of a lump sum? Which could buy you time until rates come down.

My therapist recommended "way of the superior man" and it was good. But holy smokes NMMNG is resonating with me on a deep level. Like the mantra goes "when the student is ready the teacher will appear"

I'm just finishing up NMMNG., and wow it has been so helpful for me. I read some of David Daida's stuff but it just didn't resonate with me like nmmng.
