If I remember correctly with Stronglift you start with empty bar and increase it by 2,5 lbs, which is a colossal waste of time. For example i was doing 88lbs on the bench on my first day which is normal for a guy who dont lift i think, so you can do the math. I think for a beginner as myself a program is really motivating, i increase the weight from workout to workout, got a simple routine and so on, so i would def. choose one.
