How long did you wait? What was your reason?I have to wait 2 years in my country but she hasn't seemed to care about changing things and fixing us. I didn't step out she did. I figure once the seperation period completes, I'll file. Feel sorry for my kids but can't do anymore. Hate my life. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/05/25 06:01 AM
To those broken by their divorceI get that being vulnerable as a man doesn't work out great in the real world as no one gives a shit but this is supposed to our safe space right. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/03/25 02:54 AM
How to let her go and move onI grieve the family unit more than the marriage . Some days are much worse than others and wonder if it will ever get better and I can't always see a good future no matter how much I try to tell myself it's a phase etc. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/03/25 09:04 PM
Tell Me It Gets Better Afterwards? My life still sucks, I've done the exercise, hobbies etc. I single dad with primary custody. I miss the family unit, I miss having someone with i thought gave a crap about me. Plenty of stories hear about those who have been lucky I guess. I don't have any hope for the future. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/03/25 09:46 AM
How did you handle knowing your Ex had start sleeping with another guy?I still feel shit about it, even after a year of seperation and finding out about her cheating. It eats away at me that I get to be the one alone. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/01/25 08:33 PM
Are any of you in this group on good terms with your ex?Cordial in front of kids, in reality I hate that cheating whore. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/24 10:33 AM
I cannot move onSame situation. I think you just have to learn to live with the anger and get better at compartmentalizing it or redirecting etc. The worst part is you end up having to talk to the person who stabbed you in the back because kids and can't sever contact entirely. I can rationalize that our marriage not being in a good place might be 50% my responsibility but cheating is 100% hers and the damage it does. I think the only way for me is to accept that she was always a piece of shit and I should have… | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/12/24 06:24 PM
To the guys still in pain…I dont feel as bad today about the loss and lies and cheating, but I don't know how to be confident anymore with women since. I feel broken despite being in the best shape of my life. So many scars. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/12/24 07:08 PM
What new hobbies or interests have you started since the separation/divorce?I took up tabletop gaming / painting as a hobby and exercise. But yeah my old hobbies trigger me that we shared so some of this still hurts. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/12/24 01:38 AM
Wait at least one year after Divorce before dating. What about for those of us who have to be seperate for a minimum of 2 years to divorce in my country? I feel like I'm doing OK almost 1 year now but having to wait 2 years seems a bit punitive. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/11/24 02:00 AM
I hate that I picked up smoking againAt least you're only 29, I'm 38 and it was 11 years. Someone always has it worse though in my experience. Sorry probably doesn't help much, but you get better at living in hell and used to it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/11/24 01:12 AM
Tips to taking back control of your lifeFrom my own perspective, I'm pretty poor cashflow wise and have kinda had to come to terms with the fact that money is gonna be tight and that I just have to survive, that said I was going a bit insane so had to spend some money on a hobby (building minatures). I rationalize that's it's cheaper than dating anyways which I kinda feel I'm not ready for anyway somedays. You have to have something to keep you going when it's tough and I neglected/sacrificed myself for the marriage and the kids for y… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/11/24 10:23 PM
Who to talk to?I vent to a couple of family but yeah it does kinda feel like the world doesn't care what happened and why. I don't have any close friends to lean on. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/11/24 09:35 PM
As much as it hurts, it could end up being the best thing for youI have good days and bad days. Lost lots of weight. Getting exercise and New hobbies. Still feel like my confidence is destroyed, it's been nearly a year. Cannot afford therapy. I wish she'd never cheated it would be easier on my self image. Seeing her with AP and happy with my kids is eating away at me, and pretty sure I'll be alone for the rest of my life(I know I should be comfortable alone but don't want to live my life that way). | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/11/24 10:43 PM
Some days it feels like I’ll never get thereI feel the same. I think it's easy to say that you need to reach indifference but if you've been gaslit, lied to and cheated on for a long period I don't know how to let go of the hate. Why should I have to forgive or forget here, feels like she gets away with it and nobody cares. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/11/24 10:21 PM
Getting ddivorced, did you find anyone betterI've been seperate for 10 ish months. There are regrets that I didn't try harder at certain points or respects but if I'm honest with myself she didn't look out for my needs much either and I was left alone to deal with alot as well. In the end she cheated and wouldn't stop and I had to make the call to seperate, so maybe that makes things easier in sense. I think if you reflect back too you'll find she wasn't perfect either. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/10/24 12:56 AM
Hoping to get insights from menMy wife started sleeping in a spare room basically I expect as soon as she started feeling guilty about her affair. I think it was a way to rationalize, and feel better about being a cheater i.e i'm a good person because I'm being loyal to AP. Basically they rationalize their cheating by not cheating with you. I'm messed up. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/10/24 09:33 AM
Letting go of the ex wife’s judgement and words.Mind said I wasn't a good husband and should read a sex help book. Then she cheated (or she was already cheating). These words still hurt and destroyed my confidence. I can't imagine ever approaching a woman now. I would never have said anything like that to her (she wasn't perfect but I'd never be that cruel). | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/24 06:17 PM
Wish I was enough. No app, I fell into the trap of her pretending she wanted to get try again and opened myself up. I had been doing grey rock pretty well until then. I think I could have done better if I could believe things will get better. She destroyed my confidence as a husband and bedroom ability. I had a vasectomy before I found out she was cheating and I'm feeling too old to start again and pretty worthless. I know in the back of my mind I have some value but feel it's all outweighed now. Sorry real mopey … | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/24 06:07 PM
Wish I was enough.I wish I was doing better. Made the mistake of texting her tonight out of loneliness as she had mentioned recounciliation I should know better but was weak - she didnt reply back. It's been 6 months and I still feel like crap. Trying to get exercise and do hobbies but still depressed, can only just manage effort to get to work and look after my kids. Honestly the rest of my life looks like a nightmare. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/24 09:56 AM
