This is not a rhetorical or condescending question... But exactly how evil can regular people really be? Especially women. I ask because I'm a relatively young and inexperienced guy. I'm also on the spectrum. So I have trouble assessing and predicting humans. From what I know women, or any man, are evil mostly when they feel wronged or feel the need to be evil to get what they want. And that there are very few sadistic people. So in your or some other divorced guy's case, their wife very likely …

Who initiated your separation with your ex-wife, if I may ask?

Despite what many women believe, judges are stupid and assume that all men are abusers simply because they say so Did you mean to say "are not abusers"? Was that a typo?

Even if only a small proportion of people who, for example, train to become astronauts or movie directors, doesn't in my view mean that someone shouldn't pursue their dream. You see the problem with your statement. Every to-be-married man thinks that he will be in that 10-20% of happily married men you refer to (which is a mathematical impossibility). There is so much ambiguity floating around.

How do I stop being one? And it's not necessarily a problem. I know people in this sub have had a different experience, but there are plenty of couples happily together in romantic bliss. Couples from all walks of life. Couples where the woman is the breadwinner. Couples where the man is happy with the relationship even though the sex has dried up. How do you explain that. The presence of those couples indicates that romance as a tool to gain meaning and pleasure in life isn't faulty. Please cha…

Sometimes people are too weak to break up directly. So they drop plain hints like flirting with someone else, stopping sex, or even getting abusive. In hopes that they don't have to break up and their partner to them instead.

Fair enough. But I in my defense was prompted to ask the question because the comment above me aimed to advice all men.

"What benefit is there for me in getting married in general or to you specifically?" If there isn't a benefit why the fuck would you do it except stupidity She can give a lot of good and valid answers. Marriage did have a lot of benefits for women even disregarding the fact that it's a form of insurance for women. She can also talk about the financial and some other legal benefits that some jurisdictions and even companies bestow on married men and women. She can talk about how a married couple …

I apologize for not being clear enough in my previous comment. I am not a married person. I am doing my masters but hungup over this chick I met during my undergraduate years. I lurk around this subreddit because I see you guys as being more experienced in this domain and hence tending to be more wise and rational in these matters. I have no one in my life guiding me regarding these matters. I tend to agree with the bitterness and distaste you guys express because I have seen my own father get m…

What if I love the girl? What if she is different? How would I even know for sure she is different until shit has hit the fan and it is already too late? Please help me. I have rejected advances from this girl because I knew that marriage was what she was interested in and I don't want to just have sex and take advantage of her. I am a hopeless romantic type and the on-and-off relationship with this girl has been killing me (so much so that thinking of her physically hurts sometimes). And it is …

Ok. Thank you. (Stupid confession: I kinda wish good women didn't exist at all so I could just dismiss and ignore all women once and for all. By the way, I think a sentiment like this is probably one of the root causes of my misogyny in men.)

When you have a fight or a disagree with somebody that's when the mask slips and that's what you really really need to pay attention to. I know it was me who asked you for advice and you are the one giving it - but I still would like to respectfully disagree with you. I think disagreements with other people, assuming both parties believe in a common sensical version of Aumann's theorem, are good. They help resolve identify root causes of conflicts. If you don't find yourself disagreeing with peo…

Horrible people (emphasis on "people" - both men and women pull this shit) can do everything you mentioned if they see it in their interest to act and do so. Your Average Joe (and Jane) is surprisingly manipulative for their own ends. That's where the meekness in front of the boss and servility to attractive people comes in. As I said, people can pretend to be kind and generous and do all the acts you listed. It's incredibly hard to judge someone's character. Or takes a long time (you often hear…

Hey. Just a question related to my reply to OP... What would you say are the "tells" of a good or a bad woman? Initial stages of a relationship are all acting (from either of the parties). How do you identify or judge someone's character? It's so easy to fake being nice or kind or considerate or other things. How do you tell if a woman is worth marrying?

you have some sweethearts out there How do you tell the good ones from the bad? And even if you think that the person in front of you is one of the good ones, how can you be sure? What signs and traits to look for? I've fallen in love with this woman and to me, she's perfect. I realise that I'm heavily biased and she's very likely not as good in real life as in my mind. But how do I know for sure? By talking to her? Talking smooth is the number one way to fool someone.

LOL. I know I know. I'm just a pedantic f-word who likes correcting and contradicting people. Don't mind me.🤗🔫

That's the most inefficient way I can think of of changing the system. That's equivalent to saying that enough men would need to get sexually harassed for the laws against harassment to change.

[All the members of this massive conflicting tribe all display the exact same behaviour.] I hate shitty people acting shittily just as much as anyone else. But let's not paint everyone with the same brush. After all, we don't like it when they do it.

We have slavery and indentured servitude banned but it still remains in the family court system Except that you willingly choose (and in many situations work hard and spend a lot of resources) to get married. I know alimony and CS can feel like the whole of society trying to suck your blood until you kill yourself, but let's not carried away by emotions and compare a bad deal (which is what most (all?) marriages are) to the worst of how humans have treated each other throughout history.

Not considered valid in a lot of jurisdictions. Plus, if I am not wrong, the judge can just decide to not consider it depending upon the circumstance. Not to mention the difficulty in convincing the woman about why it's important. (I know I know. "The woman "worth marrying" wouldn't object to a pre-nup," you say. But you forget why women want marriage. Marriages are women-centric. Marriage is like overtime for men but retirement for women. If the woman is smart - she would want some sort of insu…

Wait. She explicitly said that? In those words? Sounds like something you should be able to use to strengthen your position in court.

Most modern women What if I think the one I'm with isn't like the others. I mean isn't that what everyone thinks of the woman they love and want to marry? And if you don't believe (correctly or incorrectly) that the woman you want to marry is special, want even marry her. Plus, you don't really get to know how someone would behave in a bond like marriage. People are complex. And that complexity is compounded because people change.

she’s not risking anything, you are. Sorry for asking a probably dumb question, but what is he risking exactly that she isn't?
