Third article is paywalled, but from the headlines it seems like it is referring to the same thing. Catching herpes simplex from the person performing the circumcision. Maybe the person with herpes should be prosecuted, due to negligent homicide. Still seems safer than riding in a car. This is two (maybe) cases out of how many performed daily?

You can die from literally any botched elective surgery. Should we ban all elective surgeries? Also I don't know anyone who has died or lost someone due to a botched circumcision. I am sure it has happened before, but so has a lot of things. It is far safer than riding in a car. As far as female circumcisions, I have very limited knowledge of it is general.

I mean it is normally a religious thing in Judaism and Christianity, maybe Islam (don't quote me on that). It just took hold on our culture due to it being founded by mostly Christians and became the norm. I do believe I read somewhere that there are health benefits relating to hygiene from circumcision, but again, I could be wrong on that too.

My point is that nothing you say concerning this will be met with anything other than trying to derail you. It always amazes me how people still make the point that you "won't be able to get proper medical care" in the US. It is simply false. The US has very high quality health care. You will receive it, it will just cost you. Can't afford it? Guess what you are still gonna get that Healthcare, and the hospital will work out a payment plan with you afterwards. When was the last time you heard of a doctor turning away a woman in labor? It doesn't happen.

The issue wasn't his family, it was the strict wording of the law in CA, that what he did does not fall under the definition of rape in that state. I believe it falls under sexual assault, which carries a much lesser sentencing guidelines. That being said, I want to make it clear I am not defending him nor saying what he did shouldn't be considered rape. It absolutely should be. But the issue that needed to be challenged was the law if the goal was actual change and justice.
