Yeah, "predicated" was probably the wrong word choice in my characterization of your view. My thing is, it's just a bummer and I think a fundamental misreading of what a lot of us on the left are talking about when we discuss these things to just say we are anti- or "attacking" masculinity. Fair enough. I can’t deny there is a lot of hot air on the left concerning this shit, and I have my own issues with identity politics. “Attacking masculinity” is not the same thing as being concerned about “toxic masculinity” (a term I’m using as shorthand, bc I’m not fond of it and it can be used as a bludgeon in these conversations). I know that some “liberal” types do conflate the two, so I get your point, but I think they’re wrong.
