The best I can think of is using the term "living abroad". But at the same time, one of the many accepted definitions is still expat (which also has other definitions); but if you don't wanna trigger snowflakes like myself I would use living abroad to be safe and 100% correct.

You do realize there are other definitions than Wikipedia? This word does have multiple definitions including an exile or withdrawing allegiance to one's native country (Merriam-Webster dictionary). Please don't use condescending one liners like this one. It's not a good look.

The same definition goes on to say: "Effectively migrant workers, they usually earn more than they would at home, and less than local employees. However, the term 'expatriate' is also used for retirees and others who have chosen to live outside their native country." So it looks like I was also correct with my usage. I didn't answer your question because I don't have experience in those countries, I'm just annoyed when English speaking migrant workers or immigrants call themselves expats to diff…
