I've always said this, a lot of people on the left don't believe bigotry in itself is evil. They believe bigotry against whatever group they like is evil. Additionally lot of progressives are caught in this weird binary way of thinking when it comes to ideology. "Right-wingers are bigoted. I'm left-wing so therefore I cannot be bigoted," is unironically the thinking process of a lot of them.

The wild thing is many of them have actually started using that phrase.

Feminists: "I hate men and I'm proud of it." Also feminists: "why do people think we hate men?" Also feminists: "those aren't true feminists but we'll never call them out in our spaces."

I don't think so. I think it's the fact that Republicans are so openly and proudly batshit insane fascists that we're taking anyone who isn't them or their enablers.

My tin foil conspiracies are: It allows progressives to still discriminate but under a progressive guise. The left doesn't accept outright blatant racism the same way the right does. But misandry? They eat that shit up. Many times you'll see their opinions/behaviors towards men are only active with certain demographics of men. It allows progressives to avoid accountability. Progressives will dunk on the voting habits of men at every chance yet mysteriously when the topic of the voting patterns o…

Our teachers are predominantly women. And despite the push to get more men into the field studies show that there's still an unspoken resistance among women of men in traditionally women's jobs. Studies have consistently shown teachers grade boys much harsher for the same work. No significant action or study has really been taken to remedy point three despite the research and despite boys falling behind. Whenever any talk about boys behavior or performance happens, the women in the discussion ar…

The fact that they use so much right wing rhetoric (and defend their use of it or simply go silent) but simply change the target of it (and in some cases, they're not changing the target they're just using "men" to cover the unspoken group) is quite telling. It's a signal that they don't think the mindset behind the rhetoric is harmful, they simply don't like who it's being used against.

There's a weird implication in that phrase that men would naturally gravitate towards rape. Certain things don't need to be taught because they're automatically understood to be fucked up. And also, you are taught this. My mom's taught daycare, pre-k, and done some work for kindergarten and up. That entire elementary school period you have been lesson planned into keeping your hands to yourself, telling others to respect your boundaries, and so on. They would never, ever suggest that we need to …

I often wonder if it's even possible to convince other progressives? Many of them have shown to be willing and comfortable with using the same rhetoric that we criticize the right for using against minorities but for men. That goes far beyond simple disagreement or failing to see our point in my book. And just as many have shown they're comfortable with that rhetoric being used.

Is it really "hijacking" when progressive outright refuse to believe male advocacy groups aren't all toxic? There are many, many toxic feminist spaces that are simply "pipelines for negativity" as you called it, yet because progressives want to believe feminist spaces are good and necessary they'll never let these places stain the movement. Progressives don't see men as having many issues, and the few issues they "let" us have are ascribed to us not out of sympathy but another way to talk down t…

>due to race, Glad to see this mentioned somewhere else. There's this rather strange dynamic in the progressive movement where they'll easily believe and discuss how progressive men can and often do hold misogynistic views, but act as though progressive women (and men, but we're talking about women here) do not hold any sort of racist views. I've recently brought up that you will notice many of them will completely disregard all the things they say they have to do to be safe if it is a man of th…

You see this language a lot when liberal and left wing women discuss conservative politicians, commentators, or women. They're always "brainwashed", or "misinformed", or "forced by their husbands," or "repeating what her husband says."

It's quite telling that so many feminist groups will wonder why it seems so many men hate feminism, but the moment someone in their group expresses anything other than utter contempt or pity they're met were vitriol. In fact they'll claim they don't hate men, but strangely enough use the exact same talking points and language toward men that conservatives use for minorities.

I remember hearing those lines during the Masha Amini protests. You'd think it was only women on the front lines protesting and being executed and disappearing. Meanwhile, around 80% of those killed during the protests were men. And the majority of those executed in connection to the protests were men. Men were the majority of the casualties of these protests yet that dialogue persisted.

hate speech It's wild how they will use the same rhetoric and reasoning conservatives use to demonize and generalize Black people, Hispanics, LGBT, and even women, and will acknowledge that rhetoric is hateful but suddenly when it's used on men they act like they can't understand why anyone would be offended. I've always said it: notice whenever you see a "why do men," or a "do all men," question, especially if it's in an echo chamber sub, it's always in reference to something negative as though those would be the only traits uniform among men. Society sees positive traits exhibited by men (bravery, selflessness, endurance, compassion, etc) as something unique to that individual, whereas any negative trait is something that must be uniform among us.

They do this a lot. There's one poorly done study that they like which says that a certain (I forget the number) percentage of men admit to/are okay with rape. The problem is: 1. The study occured specifically at one university at one year. 2. The study only surveyed one demographic 3. The study only used seniors 4. The study had some shitty methodology. Because I didn't think I would have to specify that y'all meant leftists who do not use this sub. Strange that other people apparently did know what I meant and only you had that issue. The way you're comment is written makes it sound like you didn't like "White moderates," being called out as a bad party and got offended. I was responding to no-cat-2597's analogy of "let's not beat a dead horse," with a similar situation that occurs in many Black groups. In those groups we'll talk a lot about issues we have with Dems or White moderates not because we have no issues with conservatives, but because issues with conservatives are a dead horse. I put 4 as its own reason because it's part of a growing phenomenon I've seen in political spaces where the goal is to discredit someone as quickly as possible to avoid a difficult conversation. 1. Bots 2. "Men" on a certain (feminist sub) 3. Right wing 4. Fellow Trump supporter 5. Bad faith actor All get thrown around even when it's abundant clear the person isn't any of them. It's just a way for them to shut up opposition and basically say "hivemind attack."

I think it boils down that: I think a lot believe that acknowledging men's issues will undermine feminism. A lot genuinely hate men. What you said, a lot directly benefit from men's issues and aren't going to let that go away. They think (or choose to believe) the only people arguing for men's issues are right-wing dudes and associate the goals of men's movements with right-wing movements. Some just don't think it's their place to (depending on which brand of feminism they subscribe to).

this poor treatment and messaging But remember, that poor treatment and rhetoric isn't done by "real feminists." And yet: 1. These views are always in their spaces. 2. I've noticed an increasing adoption of literal right wing rhetoric. "If you have one poisoned jellybean in a bowl of regular jellybeans..." Which literally comes from Nazi messaging. I know the one about men just not reading that you see parroted on social media is just plain false. From the studies I've seen most agree it's like a 5 to 10 percent difference between the amount of women and men reading but the number of readers is increasing each year. But if you'd only go on social media you'd think the difference is 50 percent and that the amount of male readers is drastically decreasing.

I hate so much, and this is something their groups never talk about, is how easily and casually they will use the exact same logic, reasoning, and phrases as racists to talk about men. The problem is that social media, being attractive to only one sex, and those dudes looking for a quick lay have convinced a significant portion that they are not average looking or below average looking. Also, personality is so important. So many people (average and above) neglect it and either have a terrible one or one that's a cookie cutter match to some character archetype. (Also unrelated, but does anyone else hate that when these subs talk about who men are attracted to and say shit like …

They'll say don't want construction jobs because of the widespread sexism in those careers, totally ignoring the many anecdotes of sexism in STEM fields, politics, and CEOs like positions. I wish they would just say they want the CEO, STEM, and politics jobs because of prestige and pay. No one's going to make fun of you for saying you want the most ambitious positi…

Isn't saying that only a certain amount of accusations are proven to be false disingenuous because like the majority of sexual assault (which would include false claims) go unreported anyways (meaning no one would find it odd that the false accuser isn't taking this to the police) and because the false accuser has little if anything to lose in that scenario. /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/06/24 09:05 PM

Definitely. Part of the reason is that we're raised to see male sexuality as dangerous and exploitive or men as physically stronger and female sexuality as positive/empowering and less strong. So we kind of get ourselves in this situation of fixed victimhood. This causes the actions of one group to be viewed in an entirely different fashion than those same actions done by the other group.

Like many of their principles, they view that first quote as gospel until it applies to them. For instance white women historically acted as agents of supremacy and they currently act as agents of white supremacy. But try to use the "it's only natural to hate those who exploit/oppress you," or "all white women," or "we can hate them because their hate for us has killed us," etc. They'll throw a fit or do some mental gymnastics or both.

Honestly I find that being able to openly talk about my problems and open up emotionally to someone is great. Just yesterday we saw the post where they admitted they think most men with negative experiences with women are lying (you know despite the fact that it has been proven men are less likely to report crimes).
