Yeah I thought it might have been covert narcissism not that you explained it more it all makes sense. I’m just going to play cool until I get what I need then she is blocked

Yeah one date, about two years ago it really started she started saying shit like I’m a good person all the time I take care of everyone. Then she got controlling and I’m not one to be easily controlled

lol I went in one date with another girl when her and I were first dating. She says I never told her that so I cheated on her. I said we never made it official. She found out about the date a year ago and has been on the warpath ever since.

Divorce wasn’t my idea I believed we could work through the issues with therapy and reconnected. She went to an intake and the next day it was divorce threw me off guard.

I sent the half I’m not going to play her bullshit games if I don’t. It’s been two years of misery and her trying to stop me from seeing my son because she has an issue with autism.

I’m falling apart right now as well so I can say I feel similar to you. My wife agreed to see a therapist saw her once then decided everything is over that that it gave her the perspective that she needs to end the marriage because we are trauma bonded, and all these it terms right now that she heard from listening to a podcast about relationships. She told me she could care less to ever see my son the day before and that we are not on the same level and never will be. I asked her to explain and…

This hasn’t been the first time she has put me through this so maybe I am indifferent now. I still love her and want to make it work it’s just seems impossible when it’s one sided

This is such an asinine game, she told me yesterday that she wanted time to decide, that she would talk to me in a week. Then today she asked me if I would come over. So I asked her why and has she decided what she wanted. Then she said no then got really defense and said don’t bother I don’t care, I was just offering. I once again said you are the one that needs time and a day isn’t time.

Narcissism is such an overplayed word in women’s vernacular. And I’m definitely not controlling I try to tell her to hang out with her friends and do things seperately from me to enjoy her life.

To her the past 9 years of our relationship has no good memories. We were still on the dating stage with no exclusivity, she was living with her soon to ex husband and I had my own place. I hooked up with someone and I didn’t tell her because i felt it wasn’t really her business. She stated everything is a lie. Meanwhile a year into our relationship she had sex with her ex husband and never told me until last week.

It probably doesn’t work in reverse since there is no logic to that statement

And that’s what I’m doing I told her I’m not going to keep spinning wheels, I have missed out socializing in my circle because of her so I’m going to hook up with friends I haven’t seen and if she wants to actually hold a conversation about everything it’s up to her.

I really feel that she has covert narcissism. Everything that happens is someone else’s fault. My son’s fault, my parents for not accepting her(she never makes an effort to talk to them when we would visit), her ex husband’s fault that her previous marriage ended, this list could go on and on. I’m going to love my best life now with or without her.

Yeah I don’t get this comment at all I’m not putting her under a microscope and she definitely isn’t on a pedestal we both played roles in the demise of the relationship, just like we both could play roles to fix it. I fought my inner demons and still go to therapy weekly, this is not a me issue.

My ex wife suffers through depression and I think her leaving it go unchecked massively affected our relationship. She is on medications but medications are only a bandaid if a person doesn’t go to a therapist to talk about it. I would tell you the days without your kids get easier but that would be a lie. I had my son in a previous relationship and it and we have had split custody for the past 14 years. I missed him about an hour after I dropped him off at his mom’s. Now going through a divorce…

That’s what I’m going to do this I’d the third time she said it’s over. Now I’m done because I can only change my side and become the best version of myself.

I know I can’t stay with someone who doesn’t seek help for themselves. She treated my son pretty rotten for the past 2 years and I cannot have that either.

I fortunately do not have any children with her and the house is not in my name. So there was no real reason to stay. I had no mental peace and false accusations ran rampant.

So the line that struck me here is, “the fact that my perfect family is ruined.” While you lost your ideal of a perfect family, you didn’t lose family. Your daughters still love you and adjusting takes time. I would urge a step back from responding to any photos that are sent to you for the time being and take the time away to reflect on yourself and look at what caused the marriage to fall apart. Then reflect on that and write down what you can do to be supportive of your relationship with your…

I agree 100% with this. Also OP my wife was so centered around tic tok and trying to market herself that she left little to no time for anything else. We stopped being intimate and spending time on us and I strayed on a Reddit forum just sending out random posts, I felt like a ghost good enough to take care of the bills, a majority of the housework, taking care of her kids( my son was forced to move out due to autism and meltdowns. This feeling made me essentially say to hell with it and I poste…
