While I believe /u/exit_sandman pretty much said what I had to say about where to draw the line, I would also like to say I never mentioned women should be told they were "asking for it", or that they contributed to being assaulted because they were "smiling too oppenly" at people. What I said was that, giving we live in a world at which there is an actual risk of being a victim of criminals, taking reasonable security measures is something to be actively ecouraged if you wish to avoid risky sit…

when looking for a relationship, women are always looking fof a man who's taller and stronger than them. Hoo boy, thankfully you're way off the mark with your generalizations, or I'd be single for the rest of my life. Seing as, at the height of my less than 1,65m, and sporting a hulking 55 kg, I'm not (and when I was as well as now, there's no shortage of interested women), well... That puts some light into it.

While many think along these lines and see no problem with that, I don't think this kind of generalization contributes to discussion or to helping others realize how diverse people are (and how possible it is to free oneself of what's expected of them because of their gender without having to fundamentally alter their own id…

While I agree completelly with you, that doean't mean there should be people actually advocating women shouldn't be told to take rational security measures (such as not taking drinks from strangers, for instance) and try not to be careless in situations danger could be avoided if common sense was at work because that would be victim blaming. Taking your broken train analogy below, that situation would be unavoidable. But in a situation at which you could have taken a safer route, but chose the m…

to claim that women have no control whatsoever over minimizing heir chances of being sexually assaulted is disingenuous It's actually worse than that... It's not as much they say that women have no control over minimizing the chances they are sexually abused, it's that they say women shouldn't take precautions because since they don't deserve to be raped, and men are rapists, women shouldn't have to be intimidated into taking perfectly rational measures to avoid being raped, it's men who have to…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
