I don’t doubt she’s probably fucked multiple guys, but I don’t care because she’s a plate. I disagree with the point that she doesn’t care about me, I find it rare for someone to go from seeing each other every second or third day to nothing without something happening. That something being asking her friend out on a date. A few things but mostly earrings she had gotten from her grandmother. Honestly though, if she doesn’t ask for them back she clearly doesn’t care about them.

Well of course, she’s young and inexperienced. I’d rather leave people better than I found them. Ending on radio silence shows me that I (likely) did some damage.

Fair enough, I’m moving in 2 months so if I don’t get a text between now and then I’ll just can it. Cheers!

You're absolutely right. I was desperate for some sort of affection and decided to settle as a means of feeling that sort of emotionally connection, even if I knew that it wouldn't be good for me. Even if that meant going as far as ignoring serious red flags. Your responses have been incredibly insightful. I almost feel like taking that last paragraph and getting it tattooed on my forehead as a constant reminder. Aim high.

Really appreciate this response man. All or nothing. It seems as though by committing myself entirely I want the same from my partner. Which contradicts the whole part of just going headstrong into it, with a persons whole heart.

Your last three paragraphs are absolute gold. I was afraid to date this chick for a number of valid reasons though. One being that she was still talking to an ex, the second was long distance, and the third being that we met on tinder. All of these are enormous red flags by themselves but cultivated together should make any sane person run. Maybe part of it was rationalisation but I knew dating her was a bad idea. Maybe I just wanted to add some chaos to my life and feel some emotion instead of …

Care to elaborate on the plates in a LTR aspect?

I do have that feeling, but I feel as though there are better ways to feel desired. Your second paragraph kind of alludes to a way of developing it though.

This is essentially what I was looking for. I'm able to distance myself from my relationships but I feel like it was just a means to an end to avoid getting too attached. The question is how to maintain both attachment emotionally and outcome independence.

I think being more in control of my emotions would be really helpful. She was the only woman I was seeing at the time and started to get oneitis and I was aware of it but just kind of let it fester. I tend to suffer from moments of uncontrolled anger though I use the gym as an outlet. Maybe joining a martial art might be useful.

I was very drunk and didn't even realize I had left her downtown until she told me the following day though that still doesn't excuse my actions. I tried to be stoic and unresponsive throughout the following encounters but she has a way of knowing how to push my buttons. She's also someone who seeks drama in her life which is not something I want to be apart of.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
