I wouldn't say its particularly pertinent to TRP besides what you've already said, but its well worth seeing just because of the content itself. Its beautifully filmed, has a great way of bringing you into the story, interesting subject matter, and great music. Anyone that likes cooking should see it, its proper content about it as a craft rather than the Flavor of The Week competition show.

Hey man, mad respect for your accomplishments. Being able to come from a country like yours and with the difficulties you had and come out with success is incredible. Hope you work your way through this and all, but I just wanted to say that. If you've come this far I'm sure you can do more when you set your mind to it.

A few details I think you missed: A) If you want to ensure that you have clear skin you have to be sure to regularly clean your towels, blankets, and pillow cases. Showering and moisturizing isn't going to be of much use if you sleep on things that have collected dirtiness over weeks or months. B) Shower with warm water by all means, but if you use water that's "as hot as possible" then you'll necessarily wash out all of your hairs natural oils and possibly damage it. There should be some type o…

NEVER underestimate the role that diet sleep and recovery play. Its like a plant: you need water often but dont drown in it, you need sunlight but you dont want to dry out, and sure all sorts of supplements may help you out but too many and you'll choke it out with additives.

I think the idea is that if you have PERFECT form then you can consistently risk pushing yourself to your limits. If you give your 100% but are using bad form then injury is a very real possibility. But if you're always safe, have a spotter / rail then you can afford to work out at your (usually lower) maximum weight.

Bad diet and time. If you eat properly, sleep a lot, give time to recover, AND use good form you can expect consistent progress from at least each week or 2. But sure if you keep putting on weight but have to compensate by compromising form then something is off and you shouldn't risk it too much.

I've never had any issue. Sounds like deliberate esoteric-ness to me. A) Holy shit your kinetic chain is fucked from core strenght leading to your back lifting the weight! Who would have known!? Probably as soon as you squat and notice forward lean. Oh wow! Looks like my back isn't strong enough for these squats, i'll have to deload to maintain proper form and work on that next week. What a big disaster holy shit.

Hell, that's just Rippletoe. Anyone worth their salt and committed to lifting could consult the DOZENS of fitness channels that show form in-depth. If you're not an idiot you'll feel when you do a lift wrong or read about the form AS you research the routine, from there on all you have to do is follow properly. I definitely see the occasional newbie doing things wrong, but I think equally as often see douches in stringers trying to rep things out with poor form or using a belt for 185 lbs squats…

"until their shit is no longer fucked up in 12 ways" Not practicing the form of a squat is not going to help them improve the form of their squat. If anything what will happen is they'll "work up" to squats by doing leg presses and then load up too much weight onto the bar without EVER having practiced the routine and THEN hurting themselves. Muscle memory and form with low weight is the best way to get ready for the real thing using heavy weight. Seems perfectly intuitive to me.

Seems like the gist of this post is essentially: don't do starting strength because its hard and you might mess up. Fucking stupid rationalization. Yes, if you're getting older doing heavy weight training will necessarily be more difficult but for anyone starting out from being a teenager to being in their mid to late twenties they can achieve it. Moreover, Starting Strength / Strong Lifts doesn't recommend having heavy weight initially, it explicitly suggests started extremely light and then ad…

I love the naturalism fallacy of "oh wow this is so natural that MUST mean its good!" Bitch capitalism, cars, and society in general is arguably not very natural, doesn't mean its not the for the best.

I don't think too many people get into fitness heavily until later in their life either. If you want to reach peak fitness it can take YEARS of training, and even if you start at the age of 20 or 18 it will be a while longer until you can reap the maximum benefit. I expected the a year or two from now I'll have finally reached all my fitness goals, and weigh a lean 60 lbs more than when I first started. That's a life changing transformation. I see it pretty often, and I feel it every day already…

Stress is obviously the biggest leader of health: depression, heart, mental diseases, insomnia, all sorts of shit all stems from the neurology that gets altered from stress. If you internalize IDGAF, meditate and have a healthy sex life you're ahead of probably 90% of people. Add lifting through adulthood and its even better.

I don't think that IDGAF is anything like a sour-grapes-scenario: its not some sort of post-hoc rationalization of whatever you did as perfectly fine. Its living life with a pre-acceptance of the outcome that occurs: learning from your mistakes is possible but getting upset after something has already transpired and is irreversible seems silly in that light.

In all honest I don't really care that much over this particular story. Although Women are generally terrible judges, if she's anywhere accurate in saying that the guy is fucking 5'6 at anywhere above 250 that is REALLY fat. That's nearing meatball levels of fat. No one wants that. If the guy was the same weight as her she'd seem shallow, but I see little wrong with scrutinizing some that overweight. Living with your parents after 30 is pretty terrible for dating, but he probably loves them enou…

Not accurate. The side bar links and Neil Strauss both suggest improvement rather than outright change (unless you're a literal cuck). Good luck convincing men to try to be eunuchs for years on end until their prospective partner settles for then down the line. Not everyone truely decides their own character, sometimes its right to change yourself, its no less valid of a decision because that change is itself a result of your authentic personality.
