Tldr; be like women, have options, have people around you in all kinds of relationships that give you the attention you deserve. Whatever comes after is or is not. And on a side note, only you can and should make yourself happy, not some external person or stuff.

Without self-love you will probably TAKE energy for your benefit, because there is a need to fill your shortcoming (expressed as needy behaviour). With self-love you're able to SHARE love, fun, pleasure, etc. (expressed as confident easy going behaviour). I think it's a very good question which I can only answer from my limited point of view and knowledge. First up it's helpful to read up on mindfulness and different kinds of meditations to see what fits you. For me mindfulness means something like being aware of your body, emotion and mind, which people are often not. I agree. When you're grounded with your emotions and thoughts (e.g. seeing them as they are and having no attachments/expectations to them) and body (e.g. having a healthy lifestyle), then you'll be more inclined to be naturally calm and confident in almost any situation, or at least (re)act in a more composed manner (which can be attractive).
