I’m at that weird place where I get jealous at the idea of her being with someone else, but I don’t actually want her back. It’s only been a month since she asked for the divorce and 5 months since I moved out, so I’m ok with wrestling with those feelings. Things are indeed getting better. I haven’t had any suicidal thoughts since she asked for the divorce. After 2 attempts in the last 6 months from the stress of trying to make it work with someone I’ve since realized shows a lot of the signs of…

Yeah, every time I see her I start hoping for an epiphany from her, that she’ll see how she contributed to this mess. Then I get a little distance and realize she won’t, remember how she treated me while dodging responsibility whenever she could. I’ll admit I was difficult to live with but I was working on it, doing all the different therapies I could find, working to apply them to myself. But because she’s not willing or able to self-reflect I’m at fault and she wants to find a new man to repla…

This is great. I may not love my stbx wife the way I used to but neither do I want to be bitter and let the end of our marriage ruin the good memories we had. In the end we both made mistakes and are just generally incompatible, and we don’t need to hate each other.

I think it depends on what happened in the relationship and how mature both parties are. My wife and I are communicating better now that we’ve agreed to divorce. We don’t really talk in person but can be civil over FaceTime. We’re strictly business now which suits me just fine

I do need to be fair to myself and clear that this isn’t a one way street for why we are where we are. She has done her fair share of damage due to her unresolved issues that until today I hadn’t seen any signs of her addressing. I’m not super hopeful that she has done much, especially given what her brothers and some longtime friends have told me about their relationships with her and how she’s been towards them. I do want to save the marriage, partly for the kids and partly because I still car…

Definitely catastrophizing. She wasn’t even upset over the missed appointment. She just wanted to see where I was at with our marriage. I’m still happy I got to take responsibility for it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
