Reading tends to be an introvert hobby.

How does one get rid of that mindset?

Agreed.

It's basically impossible without meeting in person. Someone said that's what the text portion is for...uh...yeah. A couple of sentences totally conveys my personality. TLDR; won't happen. OLD is a joke.

Oh man, just came here to say I feel ya so hard.

So glad to hear this as a 5'1" balding guy. I certainly hope to hear I am sexy by someone.

"The human male testes is relatively large compared to our ape cousins" Incorrect. Why do you keep coming back here?

So glad you bring this up! I also felt the book was highly suspect. Books, like someone said, largely on codependency might help. Being religious, I can give you some as the list is long. Others I have found revolve around anxiety, particularly social anxiety and imposter syndrome. The key is get rid of what people think of you as that creates anxious thoughts and anxious thoughts come through subtle body language. I cannot recommend this book highly enough: The Charisma Myth by Olivia Fox Caban…

Agreed. It's amazing how many on this sub even have imbibed critical theory to the fullest to fight back at, arguably, another type of critical theory.

This is the way.

Like others have said. Get off social media, especially tiktok. While you're at it, if your partner espouses this stuff too (like all men are monolithic), find a new one.

It's pretty much every other book on social anxiety.

I'm not entirely sure what he means but I'll give my two cents. Glover tapped into something real: needy, socially anxious guys trying to date. Because they value women so highly the men grovel and act 'nice' hoping for something in return, a date, sex, compliments, etc. This is called a covert contract. This is probably the most helpful part of the book; the rest is balderdash. He calls it nice guy syndrome yet, the guys who do this and are rejected get very upset. He won't say this that I reca…
/r/ExRedPill08/03/25 10:26 PM

What did you think of Glover? The only thing I found helpful were the covert contracts. Everything else, I personally found to be misogynistic and stereotypical of both men and women in his book.

I like Carrier's review. I have the book and skimmed it in an a day. I didn't find much and I found many of the prescriptions to be without warrant. His history is also dubious at best. It all just comes down to being non-needy. We men need to learn to get over rejection.

Not a red flag but I find the idea sort of weird.

Sorry to revisit this again but, just curious, which parts make a man inauthentic? What would work? Do they advise doing literally everything they recommend? What are some outrageous ideas? Thanks

Also I see 'effective' mentioned. What exactly do the authors mean?

You know looking at it here my mind has changed. Doesn't seem far off from models and truthfully common sense. https://thepowermoves.com/what-women-want-tucker-max/ I guess, I just really need to get out there. I've got a good job, self defense, skills, etc.

What other problems did you have with the book? Researching the two authors left me a bit speechless.

And if we don't learn MMA then we are unmasculine? Isn't it falling into the usual tropes that we are here to refute?

Haha except for the beard (it's short and I sometimes shave it) I dress exactly the way you say to. Good to know.

Also, I think I get it...sometimes I wonder if people are reaching out and trying to help real deadbeats and aren't talking to me. Yet, I can't help but perceive they are because, I am obviously a man and men are continually grilled like this in certain places as if we are monolith.

What sort of sartorial choices are unattractive? What would be the flip side of that choice to make it attractive?

Why am I downvoted? I'm just saying she needs to be working on her issues too. I've seen men dragged down by the perpetual mental issues. It works both ways.

If a woman hasn't dealt with issues yes, stay away. It's like how women avoid men with confidence issues. Why would you want to try to carry their share of the burden?

Someone in my family revealed something like this to me...and needless to say it has me rattled. But the comments give me hope. I just wish there was more empathy

Btw, are there other places to learn convo skills?
/r/ExRedPill13/11/24 01:23 AM

Apologies for the rant I guess when I see someone, I feel like I've got nothing to offer, inadequate. I mean I have a great job, dream job actually, and interests but I still feel like I don't measure up to a woman who has played a lot of sports, is involved in a lot of things, etc. and while I find those fascinating, I never partook, still kinda don't want to etc. It's like so many people have more interesting experiences.

Default meaning being perceived as a creep, typically because those who distance themselves feel out of my league anyway like the princess and the pauper.
/r/ExRedPill07/11/24 11:23 PM

I see. I guess that seems to be the default in my mind. I can be awkward and nervous among them. I guess it makes sense they distance themselves. How in the world do I turn off this thing you guys sense (wanting romance)? I think I did that with someone and I hope I didn't ruin anything between her and I. It just sucks to be rejected yet freaking again. And if she senses that I have/had a crush, I guess that makes it feel awkward and me a creep. I hate it. I get the not getting a hint. Honestly,…

I hear ya. It acts like a horoscope. It's not complete bullshit but pop psychology blows things out of proportion.
/r/ExRedPill28/10/24 01:28 AM
1

This for sure. There certainly is a basis for attachment theory but, in pop psychology it's used like a horoscope. In my reading, attachment theory is on the way out to make room for 'resilience.' But it's good to know you can stop such tendencies. How exactly did you do so? I know Brown talks about vulnerability and confidence and I'm not sure how they are linked without pushing people away. I'm more anxious and I am trying to put into place, as. Christian, just thinking more about God and his …

I do think there are some stupid stereotypes of men, but as a teacher and guy who is more on the introverted side, I am sick of this misrepresentation. It used to be that the stereotype was that women were stupid and couldn't be in school. Oh the pendulum has swung the other way in some circles as a way to stand up for wayward men. Why are they wayward? No idea, I have my thoughts as a Christian but I don't think it's the whole truth and multifaceted.
/r/ExRedPill19/10/24 07:45 PM

Cool cool. Define funny...I feel like I have scared most chicks off by being too serious because I am anxious. As a teacher, I have a pretty sarcastic sense of humor but that doesn't always bode well...lol

Define: comfortable in his own skin. I'm trying and to some degree, I sort of am. In others I'm not, like I constantly have to be ambitious to even be considered. A few people have told me, doing things makes you confident. What if I don't like or do a ton of things?

Oh I meant people up to ten years younger are having success. So it seems like they all get taken early on.

I'm actually not around competitive people that I can see. Just rather people with way more success with women than I who are up to ten years younger.

Yeah you're right. I think it is residual and I imbibed from more non traditional sources. Anyway, thanks for the reminder. I just can't shake that as a short balding Hispanic guy, I am doomed to be eligible only in circles that look like me and have nothing in common (and I really don't want this to be around ethnicity or anything) and am only seen as professional in my professional and church circle.

/r/ExRedPill13/07/24 06:20 AM

Exactly! Seriously, not kidding about the cowboys. Maybe I just happened to be surrounded by these people but that's all I hear. "Cowboys are so hot. They're real men!" Many men try to aspire to be them despite the fact we are in suburbia. Now I am not saying it's all women at all but there seems to be quite a contingent in certain areas.

/r/ExRedPill12/07/24 09:53 PM

I am referring to what he was saying. He said that a woman will know whether or not to date you within 30 seconds. I don't agree but I labelled his argument 'female fatalism.'
/r/ExRedPill12/07/24 09:48 PM
1

Yeah. That's not how it works in There's Something About Mary. It's a comedy where all these creepy guys go after her and go to great lengths to change themselves...I just had an epiphany about that movie lol
/r/ExRedPill12/07/24 09:24 PM

A date of course. I'm not a hookup guy. As I am sure you know I'd like to have sex but I couldn't possibly imagine it with a stranger who then would also discard me. Sex to us guys is intimacy and if we are discarded it's like saying our bodies weren't anything.

Is it by chance from There's Something About Mary?
/r/ExRedPill12/07/24 09:15 PM

Good to know. How then can one be intentional without being creepy or predatory? I feel like I have been trained that these are basically the same thing and God forbid I am called a creep.
/r/ExRedPill12/07/24 09:11 PM
2

Early 30s actually. And yes, I do think that perhaps some of them are stunted...and/or are the sort of 'conservative' type that idolizes cowboys... (Which doesn't make sense. I and others don't/can't go around saying we like swimsuit models for example).
/r/ExRedPill12/07/24 08:09 PM
5

I guess I can see that now. I wouldn't a woman who says she likes me then tries to make me jealous. That would be hurtful and bitchy and I'd leave.
/r/ExRedPill12/07/24 08:06 PM

Can you explain the first part? What do you mean coincides? Like they are the flip side of the coin or an intentional overcompensation?
/r/ExRedPill12/07/24 07:12 PM

Is the friendzone a real thing? We all repeat the mantra like it's an objective fact. Sure some women don't think certain people are their type. But your #2 seems to contradict #1. Either you're frozen in the friendzone because you didn't make a move or you're in the friendzone because of female fatalism that shows itself within 30 seconds. Which is it? Both are mutually exclusive. Another question would be...is there any wisdom from when Harry met Sally?
/r/ExRedPill12/07/24 07:08 PM

See his thread from six days ago. Sounds like she was regretting a hook up as they started.
/r/ExRedPill08/07/24 10:53 PM

Watching the thread with popcorn. I feel the same way. It's like we men have to put on a show to dazzle a woman when we overanalyzers know our flaws intimately. We can be boring, or nerdy or things women don't typically value. We are constantly bombarded that every wrong move you make you lose her respect. So how do you keep someone loving and respecting you?

Unfortunately, it may be. Or they feed off each other in some way. I'm an evangelical Christian but, the last few years I have seen an explosion in 'red pill esque' thinking from certain sections. If 'feminism' or wokeism is the enemy suddenly they are using any and all means at their disposal. I think that they think that they may have found a simplified way to win the culture wars and that's to turn back the clock and look to upper class Victorian era sex roles. It is extremely unfortunate and…
