A lot of those posts feel less like I’m stepping away from dating and more like please notice I’m stepping away from dating. People can choose whatever they want, but nobody owes anyone a reaction to it. Just live your life and date if you actually enjoy it.

I think the argument mixes up not being entitled to something with having no reason to care. People help others all the time without owing them a date or relationship. A healthy society needs both boundaries and basic empathy.

Yeah both systems kinda miss the mark in different ways. Apps are too random and shallow. Matchmaking can feel like you are outsourcing chemistry. Real life still beats both but it takes way more time and effort. Most people just end up somewhere in between anyway.

Yeah I get what you mean. People often confuse confidence with correctness. Just because it’s said bluntly doesn’t make it a fact. I think the useful part is separating how it was said from is it actually true, and most of the time it’s just opinion with extra attitude.

You’re mixing a lot of assumptions into one argument here. People’s sex drive and comfort levels change with context, trust, and time. That’s not a moral statement about attraction. If someone feels mismatched long term, that’s valid to address, but turning it into gender rules won’t get you far.

That framing is pretty reductive. Abuse isn’t about bad choices or rational scoring like a game. It’s manipulation, control, and often slow escalation that can trap anyone, not just women. If it were just skill, abusers wouldn’t exist or repeat patterns so effectively.

Yeah I think it’s less about looks and more about mindset. Some people use nice guy as a label for approval and it gets weird fast. But plenty of quiet, genuinely kind guys just never announce it. The label itself is usually the red flag.

That framing is pretty off. Real relationships have always been about connection plus stability plus shared effort, not some single currency. Reducing it to transactions misses how messy and human dating actually is.

That pick me label gets thrown around a lot, sometimes fairly and sometimes just as a dunk. Either way, most of it comes from insecurity more than anything strategic. Easier take is to just focus on behavior that feels healthy to you and ignore the rest.

Yeah this matches what I’ve seen too. Cold approach exists but it’s rare and low yield. Most people meet through repeated exposure or shared spaces. It’s just easier when there’s context. You’re better off building a social circle and letting things happen naturally.

Sounds like it worked because it stayed light and fit both of your lives at the time. That doesn’t make it less real. But I wouldn’t turn it into proof that all long term desire fades. Sometimes the setup was just uniquely easy for that connection.

A lot of them want traditional girlfriend benefits with modern split bills and zero real accountability.....That’s why so many women opt out. It’s not that men are being unfairly ignored. A lot of them are offering a worse life than being single.

I completely get what you’re saying, and it’s such an important point to recognize that men like anyone have agency, personality and the ability to make choices, because reducing behavior to a predictable reaction to a woman not only oversimplifies reality but also removes accountability, and acknowledging individual responsibility makes conversations about relationships and respect far more honest and empowering for everyone.

I think it’s a mix. College is just a more social environment, so people are naturally more open and outgoing. The gender ratio might’ve helped a bit, but it’s probably not the main reason 🙂

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
